... which is appropriate, because Shirley's first Broadway gig was a replacement ensign in the original run of "South Pacific."

I didn't leak anything.

Sorry, Carlos. I used the wrong word. But none of the revelations seem so awful to me.

FWIW, I worked with Shirley decades ago. She was a lovely lady and obviously devoted mother (the younger boys were on tour with her).

Hey, Ol' Shirley loves to get it in the back seat. Ain't nothin' wrong with that.

Aw, man.

I really wanted Shirley to be the Emmanuelle of 50's-70's Hollywood.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

I will be reading the book soon. Her Marty is such a weird and yet uninteresting dude. When he shows up a D level Hollywood events without her...it is embarrassing. He becomes persona non grata. I've seen them refuse admission to him at the Pantages.

Maybe we can have a BWW cyber book reading club for this? P.J. would be the perfect and most informed moderator.

"Joan tells us, "We all make mistakes. I've made a few myself, but not with Mrs. Jones. I'm a serial monogamist."

Wouldn't that be Miss Jones or Ms. Jones? I think Joan is thinking of the song "Me and Mrs. Jones".

And I bet it did too happen and Joan is trying to pretend she's too classy to have done it with a couple of Americans.

Joan probably thinks Shirley is the head cook or housekeeper.

... hence the "Mrs."

Joan should be happy for the publicity.

Thanks to Joan, Shirley's book shot up to #8 on the NY Times bestseller list.

Too bad no one will be reading about Joan!

So did anyone read the book yet? Any thoughts? I downloaded it a few days after it was released. I thought it was an entertaining, quick read. I enjoyed the parts about her career and I found that towards the end, after Jack's death, the book is not as interesting. (Poor Marty!)

** SPOILER ALERT**

The sex bits are okay, but none of it is all that surprising - her first time with Jack, a threesome here, an affair there. The last chapter she talks about how she still enjoys pleasuring herself. That's about it.
