Just clumping these two horrifying stories together since they literally happened within hours of each other last night. Only two minor injuries in the Bryant Park shooting, but two deaths and 20+ injuries in Houston. I fear for our nation.

ummm OK, shootings are terrible. there are 162 shootings a day in USA according to the FBI

Posted: 11/11/13 at 4:22pmHeadband, I heard the contrary about the Bryant Park shooting. One victim (the target) had a minor injury, but the innocent bystander, a 14 yr. old, might be paralyzed, as he was hit in the spine.

Posted: 11/11/13 at 4:38pmIt's believed that the Bryant Park shooting was by a gang member who wanted an expensive coat. The coat in question has very deep pockets, supposedly to carry guns and drugs, and the manufacturer reportedly stopped making it because of the violence it was causing.

Because that's how we do it in America- if something catches our eye we are free to post it. You being Russian and only a recent visitor to our great nation you must be unaware of our mores and customs.
So is it easy for Russian family to come to America? Did you have relatives here who sponsored your visit? Or did you flee Russian and apply for Asylum here? It sounds like your family s quite well off- what do your parents do that allowed them to come to America?

Do not post about one thing if you do not post about every single other instance of such a thing.
Do not start any sort of program unless it is at full saturating capacity on the day of its roll out.
Do not try anything new unless it is perfect from the outset.
It's a philosophy to troll by.

I do not know if statistically we live in a country where there are more gun incidents than when I was a kid or if there are more gun incidents covered in the news. What I know for sure is this: if it's the former, it saddens me; if it's the latter, I am grateful.
We need to change the conversation. It feels, horribly though it may be, like it's happening.

Never mind 160 shootings every day in the US, we have at least one a day right here in NY. Everyone's walking around with a gun. Now they're shooting skaters. There's no safe place.
And will anything done about guns? Is anyone talking about it right now? no.
