Singer Ne-yo Announces He Is Gay
Essence Magazine August 23,2006
The newly famed singer/songwriter has came out of the closet and
announced that he is gay. The multi-platinum recording artist sat down
for the October issue of Essence Magazine last week and announced the
shocking news stating, "Yes, I am gay, and I have always been." After
several internet rumors have been circulating around the internet. He
also said, "You now this world we live in is full of judgement,
resulting in one of the reasons why it took me so long to come out of
the closet." Earlier this month, a man by the name of Derrick Johnson
claimed that he had an intimate relationship with the singer during
there teen years in high school. He also said that for months the
singer
and Def Jam has been trying to pay him to keep quiet over the ordeal.
Worrying that it would destroy his image. Ne-yo responds saying, that
the relationship did occur and he is no longer ashamed of saying that
he
was deeply in love. Reciting "That situation was what inspired me to
write the song Unfaithful. But no one knew it was actually about
myself,
and our relationship." He told Essence that he doesn't care anymore, he
was tired of living a lie and is ready to come clean. Quoting, "the
music industry can either except me for who I am, or desert me." The
full interview with the magazine is expected to hit stands mid-October.
Has anybody else heard about this? My cousin sent this to me, & says that shes pretty shocked. I'm not that shocked. People probably come out all the time, so why should this be a surprise. Only because he has a hit song? Power to him, coming out in our society of pop culture.
Good for him!
let's play a game. let's all count the typos in that first post. please tell me that did not come directly from essence magazine. 'cause a mind really is a terrible thing to waste.
Or this example:
"You now this world we live in is full of judgement,
resulting in one of the reasons why it took me so long to come out of the closet."
It should say:
"You know, this world we live in is full of judgemental people, resulting in one of the reasons why it took me so long to come out of the closet."
I read he was denying the whole thing... did he finally cave in?
He has a beautiful voice. I am glad he decided to do what he felt best. I just hope it's not a pubilicity ploy since he has fallen off the radar since his album was released. He really has such a phenomenal voice.

From MTV.com :
Ne-Yo's publicist is flatly denying claims that the singer will announce that he's gay during a New York press conference this week and in an upcoming issue of Essence magazine. An e-mail purportedly including quotes from the interview and attributed to a woman named Barbra Stradoff at Essence has also been circulating. "It's completely false," a Def Jam representative said. "There's isn't a staff member by that name at Essence, nor is Ne-Yo going to be featured in the October issue of the magazine."...
let's play a game. let's all count the typos in that first post.
Not just the typos- I got tired trying to translate all of the there (where it should be their), has (have), except (accept), etc.
Although I did love "After several internet rumors have been circulating around the internet." I didn't realize that there were other places for Internet rumours to circulate besides on the Internet.
Good for him!...who is him?

Better yet - who is picturetaker and where did the story REALLY come from?
And from AOL Black Voices Entertainment Blog:
Yes, Ne-Yo is an admitted sex addict.
But "No" to the rumors that are circulating that he's gay.
Well, I think.
Today, one of my favorite blogs, Crunk & Disorderly (www.crunktastical.blogspot.com), posted a sensational "piece" (pun intended) about the platinum-plated crooner "coming out of the closet" in an upcoming issue of 'Essence' magazine.
I think the story may have been picked up from the wildly popular site "Media Take Out," which posted it "SmokingGun.com style" (LOL).
"The newly famed singer/songwriter has came out of the closet and announced that he is gay.
"The multi-platinum recording artist sat down for the October issue of Essence Magazine last week and announced the shocking news stating, "Yes, I am gay, and I have always been."
Say What!
While the "So Sick" crooner (legally known as Schaffer Chimere Smith) has been quite forthright about his sexually exploits (read all about an eye-brow raising interview here), a rep for the best-selling black women's magazine is saying no dice.
"This is not true," 'Essence' spokesperson Sheila Harris told BV Newswire. "Ne-Yo isn't even in our October issue, and no one by the name of [staff writer] Barbara Stradoff works here."
Well, alrightee then.

I loved her on "ER" and now she is on "Vanished". I never knew she was gay.
So this was all a hoax?
And the perpetrator used phrases like "except me for who I am" and "during there teen years" unwittingly?
And people fell for it?
My favorite: "After several internet rumors have been circulating around the internet."
Forget redundancy. Can you say sentence fragment?
Wow, I have quickly gone from who is that to who cares.
Who?....Cares!
no idea who he is
