Is it just me or does anyone else get REALLY hungry right before they go to sleep? I'll be laying in the bed with the light off and my blanket all snug around me, with my eyes shut and all I can think about is a plate of scrambled eggs and I start seriously craving it (major run on sentence, I know).
I SOOOO understand this! Of course my current pattern is, I eat hardly anything during the day and as I'm going to bed each night my mouth wants to make it a mission to recover every bite of food I missed during the day time. The REALLY bummer part of all of this is that I don't eat meat or diary so if I want food, chances are I'm going to have to COOK it.

Yes, I'm completely in that boat.
Plus, I have insomnia, majorly, so the hunger often gets worse throughout the night.
I know it's not good to go to bed right after you eat, but if you have "sleep hunger", I have a simple suggestion.
5-10 minutes before you are going to sleep, have a few grapes or almonds. Something small but filling enough to satify the hunger.
Count me in as well. I usually do what SweetQ does and have a handful of something healthy right before bed. That usually holds me over.
I usually have ice cream before bed. The past couple of nights, anyway.

I can't stand that feeling. I don't go to bed if I'm hungry, so I eat something.
I'm also one of those people who are STARVING when they wake up too. I have to eat breakfast right away every morning.
blondebaby-I hear you! But my craving for food is when I take a nap, no matter if it's 20 minutes or 2 hours, when I wake up, I go straight into the kitchen. I wonder what causes that?
Thank goodness I don't take naps, because I have a feeling I'd wake up the same way Jane haha

Me too. I also do karate 3 nights a week and don't get done until 10:15, so that doesn't help. But I always find I'm hungry right before I go to bed. And it sucks.
Wait until your old like me...and eating anything after 7pm makes you puke in your mouth a little when you lay down. Sleeping upright is a regular thing for me.
Doodle- between your last post and your av, I just got a horrible image in my mind.
oops, didnt even think about that...perhaps it isnt acid reflux, just a bit of demonic posession! Instead of Pepsid, perhaps I need some holy water when I go to bed!
Just don't eat pea soup before you go to bed.
Funny you say that, because I love it, but it's guaranteed reflux to the max!
Seriously, I dont know why they fed that girl so much pea soup! It's so easy to puke up! They should've expected it!
I'm actually the opposite. I wake up feeling so hungry that I almost feel sick. It's ridiculous.
APPLES. God's miracle.
I always buy a big selection (4 or 5 varieties - and don't forget the Granny Smith's for when you crave something sour!) and have it availible. I can't tell you how many pints of Ben & Jerry's I have not sleep-walk-eaten because I ate an apple before bed.
PLUS an apple is a natural toothbrush!
P
I can't go to sleep if I'm hungry so I will get some applesauce or a bag of reduced-fat cheez-its.
I'm always hungry when I go to bed, and I'm an insomniac, too. When/if I finally do get to sleep, I have really, really weird and sometimes terrifying dreams, so I haven't been allowed to eat within an hour of going to bed since I was a little kid (because apparently, eating before bed can give you weirder dreams?)
So, I go to bed around ten, and I'm lying there for about four or five hours trying to get to sleep (I'm only allowed to read or write in bed up until about midnight), and I'm just so hungry.
But as soon as I wake up, I don't want to eat anything. I have to force down my breakfast, since I know it's the most important meal of the day.
