In old movies and musicals.
Don't you love it?
I believe the official title is:
There's A Place In France Where The Naked Ladies Dance
Well, I love it in "Drowsy Chaperone" and "I'm No Angel".
I believe it's in "SideShow" too.
Edit: to say he he Calvin. :)
And it's easy to replicate on any instrument (although most effective on the oboe)...just play in the harmonic minor Aeolian mode in any key, and presto, snake charmer music! (Usually heard in A minor and G minor...)
Love it.
Strangely, I think the snake charmer was absent from Bombay Dreams...
I play the oboe and everywhere I go people are like, "Ooooh! Can you play that song?! You know, the snake one?"
It's really easy to play, it's almost just D's E's and F's.
Depends on what key you want to play the figure in (it's most frequently played as depicted in Disney's "Aladdin" opening scene). Using the Aladdin example (which was in A harmonic minor), the note patterns (you can figure out the rhythms yourself) are:
E...E, F, G#, A, G#, F, E...
What kind of oboe do you play?
