Yep, "Imitation of Life". Not only the death scene, but the funeral.
How about Bette Davis in "Dark Victory".

(Santa, I have been very good this year also)

For emotional content/response: Boys On The Side, Mary-Louise Parker.

Fun/gore-tastic: opening of "Ghost Ship", when everyone is sliced into pieces by a rope. NICE.

Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

(SPOILERS)

Paris Hilton's head impaled on a pole in House of Wax. Y'all know you loved it...

The opening of Jaws.

Justin Long's eyed getting ripped out in Jeepers Creepers. It's off-screen, so I'm not sure if it counts.

Billy pops out of a closet to suffocate Lynne Griffin in Black Christmas.

P.J. Soles is strangled by a phone cord in Halloween.

Drew Barrymore gets terrorized, then gutted, in Scream.

Ed Woodward being burned alive in The Wicker Man.

The opening of Ghost Ship.

Bridgette Wilson is mutilated by a wacky doctor in House on Haunted Hill.

And, the obvious: Janet Leigh's shower in Psycho.

More to come...

Boobs, the entire film leaves me drained emotionally.

Not favorite, persay (sp?), but one of the more emotional ones for me is Tom Hanks in "Philadelphia". I weep every time.

John Merrick (The Elephant Man)
The King (and I)
Mary Stuart (Vanessa Redgrave)
Isadora (Vanessa Redgrave)
Thelma and Louise
Rasputin in Nicholas and Alexandra
Blanche Hudson in Whatever Happened To Baby Jane

I've heard Bette Davis does a fab death in 'Of Human Bondage' but I've never seen it.

Most disturbing is probably the last scene of HEAVENLY CREATURES.

I thought Nicole Kidman's death scene in MOULIN ROUGE was pretty beautiful.

My first R-Rated movie: BONNIE AND CLYDE. It felt like the bullets kept coming for ten minutes - it was really only about ten seconds.

The Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz. You don't get more classic than "I'm melting."
