Posted: 6/7/07 at 1:13pmI felt bad for Hannah Lee and her busted ankle.

Posted: 6/7/07 at 1:37pmI wasn't a fan of Hannah, but I still think she should have continued because she could sure dance before her sprain. I didn't think it was fair, but I guess it was "dance for your life" and she didn't cut it. :/

Posted: 6/7/07 at 1:39pmDoes anyone know what happened to the girl from last season who broke her foot and was told she could come back this season from when she left off in Las Vegas?
#53re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!
Posted: 6/7/07 at 1:52pmWe haven't seen her yet. I'm hoping she either comes back tonight or they at least mention her and say why she's not there.
#54re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!
Posted: 6/7/07 at 1:53pmI hope so, because she was really good.

DBillyP, wasn't it you who loved Dmitry Chaplin? Anyway, I thought of you when I saw him, last night.

Posted: 6/7/07 at 4:57pmOh, yes. That was my lover Dmitry on the show last night. When he did the hip rolls behind Mary, I got very jealous of that shrieking tramp. (Mary, not Dmitry!)

Posted: 6/7/07 at 5:34pmDmitry looks hotter this year, if that's even possible.

So, after reading the bios, I'm wondering if it is a new requirement to be related in some way to a past competitor...

My favorite quote from the show?
"Shut the front door!"
I howled when she said that!
#64re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!
Posted: 6/10/07 at 6:39pmLOL ... me too, TD. When she got to the "f" of "front," I thought "Surely, Benji's butchy little sister is not about to cuss! Oh, she didn't!"

Plus, who told all those guys to SNARL instead of SMILE in the bio pics?!?!?
Clearly, dancing attracts only the very angry!
HAHA!

For any one who cares, here are my quick thoughtson tonight's couples:
Jaimie and Hok: I thought Jaimie hit this number hard. It is not her style, but she came out swinging and held her own with Hok, who, of course, was great. Jaimie may be one of my favorites this year.
Anya and Danny: I think the judges went a little easy on Danny, who was a little too "placed" with all of his movement, as though he was bringing too much of his classical style with him to this number.. Anya, not surprisingly in the jive, was great.
Lacey and Kameron: Wow! Mia Michaels is brilliant, and Lacey was the surprise of the night! What passion and such attack she demonstrated. She was brilliant. As Dan said, Cameron was a prop in this number, but that was not necessarily his fault. Lacey, though, was the best performance of the night.
Sabra and Dominic: I think Sabra is beautiful, and I cannot wait to see more from her. They both did well, with some great lifts, but I thought the number was a little boring.
Ashlee and Ricky: First of all, I don’t like Rickey’s personality. That has nothing to do with his dancing (at least at this point), I just don’t like him. This number was weak. I can’t put my finger on it, but they both looked like they struggled with it–choreography, style, chemistry. She was definitely too tall for him, or, perhaps more accurately, he was too short to be her tango partner.
Sara and Jesus: Hmmm ... I am not really sure about them because the choreography was so odd. I think they are done a disservice by having to perform such a character-driven piece when we, as an audience, don’t know what kind of dancers they are. Who is going to vote for that?!? I was definitely not as taken with this number as the judges.
Jessi and Pasha: Lovely. The choreography wasn’t thrilling, but they did a beautiful job with it. A beautiful partnership. Pasha may be my Dmitry this year.
Faina and Cedric: I am with the judges on this one. Faina was by the numbers without the oomph that the number needed.
Lauren and Neil: Again, I agree with the judges. Neil lacked something for me. He obviously is a brilliant technical dancer, but I want to see him perform more. I hope he does not turn out to be Travis for me this year: brilliant technically with no emotion. I am anxious to see more from Lauren, who may be a real contender.
Shauna and Jimmy: This was the best partnership of the night; they worked very well together. I am normally not a fan of Tyce’s choreography, but this worked well.
The performance of the night was, hands down, Lacey and, by default, Kameron. The weakest, for me was Ashlee and Ricky.

Posted: 6/13/07 at 11:50pmI think I agree with that. Although, nobody is an early favorite for me, like Benji was last year. Still, a really good first show.

Some random thoughts...
I loved Wade's choreography tonight. I also enjoyed Mia's. While I think Tyce is stronger with his contemporary choreography, I actually thought that his musical theatre wasn't too shabby tonight...though I think he could tell more of a story through his movement.
I wish they would explore more styles. I feel like they use so many ballroom genres. I would love for classical ballet to be a choice, or maybe even a "wildcard" that could include anything from modern to tap.
#71re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!
Posted: 6/14/07 at 12:29amTap would be great. Although, many really great dancers, can't do it!

Posted: 6/14/07 at 9:27amI've not seen this season at all, but happened to catch the last few minutes last night - that Shauna is FABULOUS. Her technique is dead-on, and she's absolutely weightless and completely passionate.

I liked Shauna and thought the judges were a bit harsh...tho the Dorothy dress didnt help. The only choreography I really enjoyed was Mia's.
We like to call this show..."So You Pooped in Your Pants"

Josephine, I was thinking about that this morning. If they truly want an "all-around" dancer, s/he should be able to tap.
I also think they need to throw Irish stepdance into the mix!
