I was hoping 2011 would start out better than 2010 ended but I have to say, right now it's looking a little dicey.
Like most people, I rushed home from a glamorous gathering to see the kick-off of the brand new Oprah Winfrey Network, also known as OWN. And what does this kick-off consist of? 24 broadcasts of the same exact half-hour preview.
I was hoping for a bounty of advice for living my best life, testaments to the human spirit, and most importantly, exciting journeys, be they the journey of Oprah as she begins this exciting new chapter of her late stage capitalism, the journey of Ms Lisa Ling on her new show about how she still exists, the trek of Mr. Carson Daly who still has that special eye but now is hosting his own show about people getting their own OWN show that features a theme song by Will.I.Am about how somebody is going to get their own show and they will have it on OWN. Also, some show about eating hosted by a large lady called Bowls of Love, who will later probably go on a weight-loss journey.
But it's the same thing over and over until noon when Oprah hosts her own OWN preview and I'm like, beyotch, who's preview are you showing over and over again for 12 hours? Who knew this network was going to be such a Kafkaesque nightmare? Have I been pwned by O and OWN?
Already snookered 2 hours and 7 minutes into the year. Bummer.
Damn. sucks to be you!
! Who is this Oprah person?

Oprah is a woman on a journey.
She can take her bottom feeders like Dr. Phil and Nate Berkus with his cheap and tawdry fabrics and decor and beat it!!!
I wish she'd give a show to Ke$ha or Janice Dickinson or Snookie-people who actually contribute to society.

It's a cross between a Snickerdoodle and a cookie.
Three hours into the new year and I haven't had so much as a hand job.

Head to the baths, get a room, leave the door open, light a cigarette, pop the poppers and keep your options open.
Television as we know it will never be the same.
This thread is my favorite of 2011.

People are asking some questions on the OWN website about the lack of diversity in the previews. And also using a lot of exclamation points! I think this is crazy because there is Lisa Ling and Carson Cressley, two very diverse people.
You're what you OWN
Canada doesn't get the OWN network till much later in the New Year(Is it still New then?) so thanking you for enduring the pain of disillusionment for me! I will gracefully side step when the promotions come on.

They must be on a journey too.
It looks like they aired the first Masterclass show with Jay-Z.
My favorite comment: "I didn't even know how to spell his name before this".

I only lasted 10 minutes. His interviews should not be edited down to monologues. He's great when he gets to interact with a real interviewer, as he was recently with Terry Gross.
i thought this thread was going to be about the bruins game LOL
why would we be talking about ucla?
