From what I heard, Kerry obviously beat Bush. What about the VPs?

Cheney.
But no one really stood out as brilliant or anything unexpected.
No he didnt

No you di'nt!
I believe that Edwards kept his cool, but I think that Cheney had great answers. Of course, almost all of us here are biased in that sense...

If the President should die, I trust Cheney with the country much more than that ambulance chaser with no political experience.

Winner:
Anyone who went to bed early and didn't bother watching it all.
No sparks.
No new information.
No interesting exchanges.
Having them both just sit there sapped the whole event of any energy or excitement (to the extent such things can ever be described as exciting).
I can't imagine than either one won any new converts to their side by their performances tonight. They both were competent -- nothing more.
Cheney didnt give one straight answer at all....especailly about health care and the unemployment issues

Cheney ate Edwards alive.
I only wish he had dipped him in Heinz Ketchup first.
What I liked that Edwards said was that he pointed out the "flip floping" on Bush/Cheney behalf. I am up to my ears in "flip flopping" and "mixed messages," it was nice to see that pointed out.
From the way they answered questions during the debate, I wouldn't want either one as president.

"Cheney ate Edwards alive."
Hey, I've been saying that he would all week! I could imagine it happening, too.
Cheney smoked him. Without yelling, of course.
CBS polled 200 swing voters
29% said Cheney won
56(?)% Said Edwards won
- not sure about the Edwards percentage, its around there.

WTF. How did Edwards win?
He didn't mess up, and he kept the stability of what Kerry has done to the polls, but WIN?
Just posting what i saw.
Edwards pounded Cheney into the ground like a golf tee with every mention of Halliburton. And Enron.
Edwards won. No doubt. AOL, Yahoo, MSN, CBS, ABC, and drumroll even FOX visitors all agreed. In fact, I haven't found one poll that doesn't list Edwards as the winner.

At the very least, Edwards seemed alert. Cheney looked as if he was about to doze off several times.
Based on the arguments alone, I thought it would appear a draw to the average swing voter. Nevertheless, Edwards has something going for him that Cheney doesn't: He's hot. Young fresh-faced daddy with a sexy southern (I call it piggy boy) accent. If Kerry is elected, then frustrated housewives throughout the metropolitan DC area will be lining up at the White House gates with apple pies for John Edwards...
I, for one, can't wait to see his shirt tail accidentally come out of the front of his pants and reveal some bare skin.

Well, if those numbers hold up in other polls, I think it's just a reflection of Cheney's intense unpopularity with the public (that lead to all those rumors a few months ago that the Republicans were considering dumping Cheney from the ticket -- his approval ratings were in the 20s and 30s, even lower than Bush at his worst) and the fact that Edwards is a handsome charismatic guy (though I don't think he scored any points in the debate tonight).
I'm a huge Kerry-Edwards supporter who's rooting for them to win with all my heart and soul, but even I didn't think that Edwards "beat" Cheney tonight -- it struck me (and the liberal friends I was with) as pretty much a draw.
Sounds like a replay of Nixon-Kennedy 1960: the movie star handsome guy beats the ugly old mean sweaty guy every time.

I agree with Margo.
While I liked Cheney's answers better- no one was brilliant, no one was horrible, no one threw something at the other person, and both had their share of smirks and sighs.
I think what it comes down to is who's ideas/position you like better.
well, abc's insta-poll scores it cheney: 43% | edwards 35%.

here's the latest picture taken from the white house... bush seems to be taking it just fine, and dick seems to be keeping up the posture he demonstraited at the debates...
