It's always so easy to tell total strangers what they should or shouldn't do, isn't it? We have no idea what Barbra does during the course of her day, or when she's doing a cd, movie, her foundation, or whatever.

If we had the kind of money that she does, we'd vacation all over the world, too. Anybody would.

Barbra has always said that she's lazy. We all are - we all have things that we don't want to do. At this point in her life, it appears that her husband is her number 1 priority - as well it should be. Family should always come first.

Bobby, you right that you're "angered" by Barbra. How could you be angry with a total stranger? That makes no sense whatsoever.

Fflagg, you right that since she got married, she's lost her vocal energy. What in the world are you talking about? Did you see her in concert since she's gotten married? She toured in 2000, 2006 & 2007. Tell me which concert you were at, where she lost her vocal energy. Better yet, if you can do better, we'll all buy seats for your concert tours. How do you know that Diana's arrangements are dull. Were you there when she wrote them? Were you there when the songs were being recorded, edited, etc.

Just because Barbra discussed a film or an album project didn't happen, that's not her fault. The money comes from the studio. If the studio doesn't want to give her the money to make a film, then it's not going to happen. This happens all the time when projects are just that - projects that don't get off the ground due to lack of funding.

It's her cd - not ours, hers. If you don't want it, or it bothers you, then don't buy it. That's terrific that the cd will have 2 versions that you can buy. Many cds & dvds have great bonus features on them these days. That's great marketing all the way around.

Great pic of her on the front of the cd. But, it does look a tad too photoshopped or airbrushed.

At 67 years of age, she's a very active Senior Citizen.

To all:

Neal is one of those BS fans who feel that BS can do no wrong so be gentle with him.

Since life is short and precious, I will also keep this short.

1. BS makes a CD. For whom? The public. The least she can do is to do her best considering she has more money than God and more time than at the Timex factory. She herself stated that she can record an album in three days. Gee, is that why it took her 4 years to release a new album.
2. The concerts: yeah, right, we were there. Boring. So boring that BS could not be bothered to sing the final dress rehearsal and instead had Liz Callaway sing it for her.
3. Krall: we have heard enough snippets online to know that the music sounds like pablum. Heaven help us if she and BS met and worked together on WHAT ABOUT TODAY? instead of the great Peter Matz and Don Costa.

When you are blessed with talents, it is an artist's "job" to share them, nurture them, challenge them, too. When was the last time BS did any of that? Gee The Broadway Album from 24 years ago?

It's funny that her husband can find the time to make films almost every year yet she cannot.

OK, it is dinner time and that is more important that you, Neal.

Fflagg, oh please, I am not one of those people who thinks that Barbra can do no wrong. Far from it. I'm a person with a lot of common sense. And, you have such an axe to grind when it comes to Barbra Streisand.

Some of her albums/cds I listen to more than others, some I don't care for. Same with her films - some I watch more than others. It would never enter my brain to think that I would know what's best for her. Only she knows what's best for her, and vice versa. It would be like me saying that I know what's best for you and your life. How is that possible?

Liz Callaway was Barbra's stand in for her concerts. There could have been many reasons why she didn't some of the songs at the rehearsal that you saw. When I sang in Barbra's choir for her "Timeless" concerts in LA & NYC, her stand in sang a few songs at the rehearsals, while Barbra was still tinkering with her music & dresses that she wore. That's why it's a rehearsal, you change as you go. Did you ask anyone at the concert why the stand in sang? Or, did you just assume that Barbra can't be bothered? What an absurd thing to say.

James Brolin's career has absolutely nothing to do with Barbra and vice versa. So what if he does more film/tv work than she does? Good for him. That has nothing to do with Barbra.

Do you know the specifics of her recording contract with Sony/Columbia? Does it say that a new cd has to come out in a certain time frame? Not sure.....

I saw 8 of the 2006-07 concerts and she was fantastic. Did you see her concerts in 1994 or 2000?

The one thing that's so great about this board is that opinions can be discussed and appreciated. But, when you say things that are so off base and untrue, people will call you on it.

Just a quick comment about the Barbra's last exciting/good album. It has been mentioned a few times in this thread that The Broadway Album was the last "good" album released. Well, I know it's just my opinion and despite Bobby's almost drowning in the bathtub listening to it, I actually think that Back to Broadway is wonderful. I love it, and think the arrangements and vocals are splendid.

And does the recording of the 1994 Concert count? That is a masterpiece.

I will agree with Besty that starting with A Love Like Ours we have had a decade now of basically the same arrangement of slightly different songs, and the music has become boring. A Love Like Ours into Christmas Memories into The Movie Album...all the same album musically. Guilty Pleasures was ever so slightly different but still....boring.

I don't care--I still love her, think that she is the most brilliant living performer, and obviously pre-purchased the new Jazz album as soon as I could.
