i believe it is Randy Newman singing it on the CD, and i know you don't like his voice... (kinda like how i sing, mixed with a bit of Bob Dylan... LOL!!!)
Babee - you sing beeyouteeful until you do your Dylan imitation...LOL...
Thank you!
So I worked on Love Who You Love last night (from Man of No Importance) and it is truly a beautiful song - that was a great suggestion, and my music director loves it also - which is always a good thing!
That show has some great music in it and a wonderful story. It's too bad that it is such a little known show.

"Hold On" from Secret Garden
"Yes" from 70 Girls 70
"Be Happy" from Minnie's Boys
"Sing Happy" from Flora the Red Menace
Already working on Sing Happy as a possible number in the show - don't know the others (except for Hold on, having done Secret Garden a couple times in my career), though, so will have to give them a listen...Thanks!
lets just get this back out there...

Ol' Man River (see thread from Sonn...25)
I never thought about doing that one - I think it requires a TRUE bass - I'm a bass/baritone... but its a good suggestion...thanks
I'm still not sure exactly what you're looking for, but I'll throw a few out there:
Here There Good Times from I Love My Wife is one of my personal favorites. A couple of great self-appreciation numbers are Hey, Look Me Over! from Wildcat and Step to the Rear from How Now Dow Jones. I've always found Our Kind of Love from The Beautiful Game rather inspiring as well as I Got Love from Purlie. We'll Meet Tomorrow from Titanic is a haunting anthem of desperate hope in the face of catastrophe.
Tell me if I'm on the right track and Ii'll try to come up with a few more.
would you believe - I don't know any of those other than Hey Look me over - which is not exactly the direction I'm heading. this is a tough one to make clear to people - but I want songs that inspire people to believe that there is something bigger than just US out there and that we are here for a purpose - maybe that makes it easier to understand...
but not necessarily religious in overtones?
Alone in the Universe from Seussical could work.
OH Yes - joey is right - not necessarily religeous in overtone. I don't know suessical but might check that one out.
Fate - Kismet
Why Am I Me? - Shenandoah
I love FATE from Kismet - what a wonderful song - I used it as an audition piece when I first moved to NY
I was thinking about Do I hear a Waltz? but I think it might be too romantic...others suggestions?
where do you think YOU'RE sneaking off to?LOL
I'm still open to suggestions of songs of inspiration - I think that within the next 8 weeks or so, I'll be finalizing my choices and starting to work in earnest on putting them into some kind of order for the show...
You might want to check out Matt Zarley's CD "Debut". There is a lot to work with there.
Otherwise, I would suggest "Boom Boom Boom (Let's Go Up To My Room)." That always inspires me at Splash.
Zola - uh, thanks, I think...LOL...
Sure thing. Let me know if you need anything else. I'm here to help.
Zola - yes, I can see that from your Icon...(smile)....
Well...."Somewhere, someplace, sometime" from the new version of "Tell Me On a Sunday" is really nice....
