Posted: 6/11/10 at 9:40amI would have until yesterday, but when I think about Sanford, Nikki Haley and Alvin Greene I think SC has the edge. Arizona needs to step it up to reclaim the title!

JerseyGirl2, take a look at this thread. SC is definitely in the running but I say AZ is just a wee bit nuttier. But not by much.

South Carolina still has a traitorous symbol in its state flag after 145 years.
There seems to be no realization of the huge irony about patriotism to the USA and embracing the Confederacy.
South Carolina "wins" by a disconnect.

Wait - Arizona just made a case for itself!
Yuma Arizona's Mayor Al Krieger made offensive remarks at a Memorial Day event suggesting gay people are effeminate and weak and asserted that gay servicemembers can never do what tough veterans have done in the past.
The Mayor voiced his opposition to repealing the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy by saying:
“I cannot believe a bunch of lacey-drawered, limp-wristed people could do what those men have done in the past.”
“We need solid, strong men to fight those battles. Not pacifists.”
He even went on to compare his stand with that of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, saying that he was principled and speaking from the heart.

D'oh, I meant Nevada, not Utah.
I'll save judgment on Nevada until we see whether they actually elect that moron. (she also doesn't think women should work -- I guess she gets an exception, though)

Posted: 6/11/10 at 12:18pmJG2 - I think there's a little confusion. Someone made it sound like a representation of the old Confederate flag is a part of the official state flag design - but the controversy has been that the capital still flies the Confederate flag along with the state one.

Posted: 6/11/10 at 12:22pmYeah, because SC has a very popular flag with a palm tree and crescent moon.

Oh, please.
Arizona is crazy because of the heat. It frys their brains.
But S.C. has no excuse for letting someone run for office who had no business.
S.C., hands down.

Racist ain't nuthin' new to my home state. This dude was governor when I was growing up. At least we had the good sense to impeach him.
