Specialty Bookstores in NY

Does anyone know of any specialty or independent bookstores in Manhattan, preferrably in Midtown, but anything is fine really.

Also if there are any "sights" that have a literary meaning to them (i.e the apartment of a famous author) please let me know.

Lennox Hill (or street.... i can never remember)
Drama Bookstore
Applause Bookstore
Black Orchird (or is it plum... i can never remember)

Isn't Applause Books closed? Or was that Sam French?

The Mysterious Bookshop in Tribeca is interesting. I stumbled in one day, but I don't really read mystery.

Applause Books closed in the summer of 2005.
