Happy Days itself was a spinoff from Love, American Style, called "Love and the Happy Days."

Though not exactly a spin-off, Trapper John was a succesful show based on a MASH character. There was an unsuccesful spin-off from MASH, I think it was called AfterMASH.

Family Matters was a spin-off of Perfect Strangers. The mom was the elevator operator at the newspaper office where Larry and Balki worked.

Re: Lt. Munch - he holds the record for the character appearing on the most TV shows (played by the same actor). Richard Belzer has played Munch six different series: Homicide, Law & Order SVU, Law & Order original, Law & Order Criminal Intent, The Simpsons, and Arrested Development!
