Spirit Airlines to charge for carry-ons

I wonder how many people travel without any type of luggage? Outside of terrorists, of course.

Terrorists will be exempt for carry on bombs

Why doesn't everyone just travel with the clothes on their backs & rent everything (clothes,camera etc) when they land. Think about it.

This is the equivalant of facility fees.Pay toilets will be next.

Pretty soon they will charge for a safe landing. If you won't pay it, it is a parachute for you

Absolutely ridiculous. As if the baggage fees weren't bad enough. Soon they'll be charging for the air you breathe and to use the bathrooms. I don't know anyone who flies without at least a carry-on bag.

I think part of this is fueled by people trying to beat the fee for luggage(which is a tradegy itself) by carrying on bags the size of Cleveland . They could care less if someone else has no room. Some people have 2 bags & how they get away with it I will never know.

It's actually cheaper to UPS my luggage to my destination than to fly with it. And sadly, it's probably safer to do it that way, too.

Spirit, FYI, is kind of the joke of the US airlines industry, so don't expect the majors to feel compelled to copy this idea. Not for six months or so, at least.
