sometimes i thing some people think their families dont accept them or tell people they're not accepted beacuse that's what they want to happen.
you poor thing... you're parents love you. be happy about it.
and stop assuming you're the only person who has *ever* had to come out to their parents and not heard exactly what you wanted to hear.

my parents walked out of RENT.......either the whole AIDS thing hit too close to home, or it was too loud for them.......

Some days are just bad and people need to vent. Don't you have those days?

I don't think chasef2008 posts these kinds of things on a regular basis.
Give a little sympathy- something you would want when you are going through a rough time whether it's not being accepted or anything else.

I'll admit that I didn't read all of his post because the prose offended me but AbbaRabbit, I never saw him implying that he is the only person to ever go through this sort of thing. I imagine that the reason he came on here and posted this was because he figured there were people with similiar experiences who would give him some sympathy. Whether or not you really care to hear it, it's kind of lame of you to come around making fun of him (Papa too). Just don't say anything.

Your parents may love you but I think it would kind of suck to be fifteen/sixteen years old and suddenly realize that your parents think there's something significantly wrong with you. It's a novel feeling if you've previously had a good relationship with your parents. Chasef, welcome to adolescence. Enjoy it, work it, get over it.

I think one important thing you need to keep in mind is that your parents said "No matter what life you choose to live, we will still love you." I think maybe (and obviously I don't know, but it sounds like) they understand that being gay isn't a choice... choosing to act on those impulses is the choice. But I mean, choosing to act on heterosexual impulses is a choice as well.

It sounds to me like your parents are scared for you. Terribly afraid. They ARE being stereotypical, and close minded. But they DO love you. If they didn't love you, they wouldn't take the time to watch the movie with you, and talk to you afterwards. They would just forget about you.

Parents are human beings. They have faults. Your parents may have been raised in a society where being gay was considered to be wrong. Being a teen is definitely hard, and to have to overcome an obstacle of showing your parents that one of their core beliefs is wrong, is terribly hard. But I do think they love you. And that is the most important thing.

Just remember that you will overcome this. And when you go to a college, definitely look into a more liberal school where you will find lots of support. Remember to not lose your temper over this subject... React calmly, even if your parents are acting immature, because if you act childish, it will only push them in the wrong direction. Think of yourself as teaching *them* something. And eventually, they will understand.

that's kinda implying that no one who posted to him has ever been though anything like what he's going though.

your parents watched a movie with you that you thought they'd be against, told you they loved you no matter what, expressed concern, and even though they were mis-informed somewhere along the line about all gay people getting aids or something, the concern shuld tell you they love you and care about you, and you said in another thread that they liked the movie as well... what's so horrible about that?
