I searched and saw this got a brief mention in the "Snood" thread, but who else knows about Sudoku? I'd never heard of this until USA Today started running them this past Monday. If you're unfamiliar, it's a Japanese puzzle that involves placing the numbers 1 through 9 in a 9x9 grid so that each number is used only once in each row across, each row down, and each of 9 smaller 3x3 grids that form the big grid. Each puzzle starts with some of the numbers already filled in, to get you going. I struggled with the Monday puzzle and couldn't finish it, but the ones for Tuesday and Wednesday were much easier, and after finishing those, I went back and got Monday's from the website and tried it again and got it this time! These really are addictive!
I have a couple of friends addicted to those. I haven't tried it yet, but I have a feeling I'd be doing them every day.

My mom bought me a book filled with sudoku puzzles for my birthday. It's very addicting.
Therese-The puzzles was originated in the U.K. Japan just (thankfully) popularized it. Sudoku translating from Japanese 'Su'-number and 'doku'-single or bachelor.
Sudoku = my new favorite pass the time game! Can't get enough.
Addictive and annoying especially if you make a mistake and your doing it in pen.

hypertruffle - I didn't know about the UK origins. USA Today just mentioned Japan.
I work the one from the paper every day at lunch, but I got smart and started making an enlarged photocopy that's easier to write and erase on. (I'm not brave enough to do them in pen!)

Therese-you're a smart one. =D Tis a pain in the arse to erase the little markings.
When my dad and I were in LA, we kept seeing signs that said "Do you Sudoku?" and because that amused us so much, we continued saying that the whole trip. Heh heh.
I am an addict as well. 4 books a hand held game, a puzzle a day calendar, and 2 web sites.... man may be I should find a meeting!
wow mom, you have me beat. lol. that is a lot of sudoku.

I'm addicted.
Sudoku has actually pulled me away from here a little bit.

Those puzzles are great. I'm horrible at them but entirely addicted. I just got a book of them and my time is now devoted to those; and here of course.
here's a link to some online

I bought some Sudoku books for some people for christmas, but i'm afraid to try it myself. i'll end up skipping work and meals, and then i'll get fired and starve to death, and who wants that?

I really enjoy Sudoku Puzzles.
And, by the way, the 3X3 squares from which these diagrams developed hold a lot of religious significance in Ancient Chinese religions and culture. I wrote my final paper for my Taoism class on the development, it was very interesting.
nice way to kill time backstage before you have to go on or do a prop/costume change, thus why a castmember from my last show bought me a book of them.

Don't hate. Appreciate.
Perfect way to kill time (besides postin' on BWW, or course)
