Summer Heights High, Anyone?

Has anyone else fallen in love with this show on HBO? After only 2 episodes it might just be my favorite show on TV.

re: Summer Heights High, Anyone?

I discovered this show on youtube last May, and fell instantly in love with it! My favorite is Ja'mie (weird name, I know.) The episode with the formal is one of my favorites!
I'm as jumpy as a virgin at a prison rodeo!

re: Summer Heights High, Anyone?

I got the DVD last time i was in Australia.

It is hands down BRILLIANT. the best comedy series i have ever seen.

You need to YouTube Chris Lilley's previous work - We Can Be Heroes - a mockumentary about finding the Australian of the Year. The Pat Mullins character is comedy GOLD.

He is a genius.
"...But Kungurtseva reels off multiple fouettes and the tape is stopped so she can take a bow. The Jester, an abomination introduced to Swan Lake in Soviet times, extorts applause from the audience. The cuts don't help the storytelling, the production is bare bones and they go for the '50s-style happy ending. The audience cheers like mad at the end. It's the Russian ballet, after all..."

re: Summer Heights High, Anyone?

I've just gotten into this show not too long ago. It's brilliant and I wish I could get the DVD instead of having to watch clips/episodes on YouTube. Out of the three characters Chris Lilley plays, Mr. G is my favorite.

Also, has anyone heard of Big Bite?

The DVD can be purchased through the ABC Shop (the retail arm of the Australian Broadcasting Commission). Prices shown are in Australian Dollars which today is US $1.00 = AU $0.66.

Strange how this thread was bumped...but just in case anyone's interested, HBO has the dvd for purchase:

It was released on DVD in the US in February. I am hoping they will broadcast We Can Be Heroes in the US.

re: Summer Heights High, Anyone?

I got it from Netflix. Wasn't crazy about the special features. (I love special features on DVDs)

My post that got deleted even though the thread was bumped said that I thought it was pretty brilliant. I was a tad bit offended by the Down Syndrome jokes though. I can see that some may not like it because you pretty much have to suspend a lot of reality with it. I don't know any school that would put up with Mr. G! Ja'mie just had me on the floor. Especially when she would say "No offense".

re: Summer Heights High, Anyone?

Why was there never a second season of SUMMER HEIGHTS HIGH?
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
