Summer Musical Theatre Programs
Summer Musical Theatre Programs#1

I know school's is just about to begin (and for some people it's already started) But, my mind is already on next summer.
I want to go to a Summer Musical Theatre Program. Preferably at a University (It's a scary thought but I have to get ready to go to one soon. [I'm going into gr.12... but I'm probably taking gr.13 too])
I know of the more prestigous ones at OCU, NYU, and Michigan.
But, I'm afraid of applying to those incase I don't have the skill level there looking for.
What are other programs that I can look into?
edit: Let's keep this relivent

Thank you for that WONDERFUL piece fo advice.
I did a search but all I really could come up with was Mpulse, OCU, and NYU.
I wanted to know of alternatives.
If you're just going to come one and tell me to do a search, then is it REALLY worth your time?
you just end up looking like a jerk and no one's question is answered.

Posted: 8/22/07 at 9:25pmHave you looked at Camp BRAVO! It's not at a University but You work with amazing and extremely known teachers. For the Musical theatre camp, The voice teacher Vance Wilkenson(let me check the spelling and I may have to edit the last name) Has 38 students on broadway and in national tours. Danny Pulley(Dance) Has danced around the world with some of the most amazing dancers in the world, Including herself. I don't know if it's what you're looking for ,but it is the greatest place on earth.

Posted: 8/26/07 at 5:40pmBroadway Artists Alliance isn't at a university, but it's in the city. I attended this summer and it was a fantastic learning experience. I've also heard really great things about OCU's summer program.

aqualline 2, seriously look in to Interlochen. (interlochen is a performing arts academy, bording high school, in traverse city michigan, which is also renowned for its summer programs in all areas of the arts) The alumn list for interlochen theatre summer programs is plentifulll with great performers (barrett foa, victoria clark, anthony rapp, on and on!!)
anyway, the offered summer programs in musical theatre are the One week musical theatre intensive, the three week musical theatre workshop (which performs a revue at the end of the session) and a six week Musical Theatre Production major (which performs a full scale musical production of very good quality at the end of the six weeks)
there is also a six week repertory theatre major, which produces a full straight play at the end of the session.
all of these majors are offered to rising 9th graders through graduated seniors and acceptance is based on an audition tape and application sent in february.
These programs, especially musical theatre production, are well - known and respected by professionals (and colleges!) and are some of the best for our age group in summer training. i did musical theatre workshop, three week session, two summers ago and loved it.
Know, however, that Interlochen Arts Camp is a CAMP, intended as a summer camp, which includes sleeping in cabins! but its well worth looking at for you
