I saw Elysium this morning and meh is a pretty good way to describe it.
Bettyboy, I do have to say damn you, because I read your comment before seeing the movie and all I could think about the entire time Foster was on screen (which felt like less than 10 minutes) was that she needs to make a Suze Orman biopic stat!
The first 30-40 minutes are very slow. Then things picked up in the middle and there was so nice action in the final third. It took so much time to get there though and I don't know if everything was truly earned.
They spent a lot time on Earth and not much on Elysium. Nothing was explained of how it was built, how the governments were run, how one became a citizen of Elysium, etc.
I thought it was about on par with World War Z or maybe slightly less successful. Both were fine movies, but not great ones.
SPOILER****************
The worst offense was Foster's death! Talk about being anti-climatic. Sure, her character was barely developed, but to go out with such a whimper was pathetic.
END SPOILER********************
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
