Does anybody know of some really cool places for Sunday brunch in New York? I'm coming to the city in October and really want to do the whole 'Sunday Brunch' thing while I'm there.
Any ideas would be really helpful!

Two of my favorites are Norma's at Le Parker Meridien and Cafe Botanica at the Essex House. You can check out Norma's menu below:

The best deal in the theater district:
Unlimited Champagne Brunch
Film Center Cafe
11.00
The food is pretty decent if you like American.
Union Square- Blue Water Grill
Stick to the sushi, it is excellent. Around 20 with a Bellini or Mimosa.

I would recommend trying to make a reservation through opentable.com (they take a limited number of reservations through there, and save the rest of the tables for walk-ins). Alternatively, the same menu is available on Saturday, and the wait is shorter.

I have heard alot of good things about Norma's too.
My bf likes the brunch at August on Bleecker the most--a little pricey, but very good!

lildogs- i LOVE that you are taking mama to Lips!
Some of my fave brunch places are:
Tartine- but prepare to wait
Extra Virgin
Malatesta Trattoria- ate next to Seal and a VERY pregnant Heidi Klum last time (yes, she does eat)
Pastis- for a Sex & the City vibe
or if I'm feeling French, Bistro Jacques on the Upper East Side (a neighborhood I cannot stand) for their amazing Moules Frites.

Not that it's a culinary feat or anything, but i love the gorgonzola dipping sauce at Extra Virgin.
I prefer brunch in the West Village- cozier and more romantic.

Good call liotte - I forgot about Sarabeth's. They have several other locations, including one on Central Park South. Here's a link to their menu (I love reading menus online!):

Posted: 9/30/05 at 5:57pmAgreed . . . but since I don't live in New York, whenever I visit, I don't mind splurging for a special occasion. I bet the New York residents on this board also know of good places for a bargain brunch, though (like the suggestions of Corine2 above).

Some other choices:
The Edison Cafe- Go with your group, i went recently with my office and my CEO was LATE and they made me stand until my CEO and VP showed up. I was a bit pissed. Try standing in high heels for a half hour.
I actually like the homemade soup better than anything else.

I love Lips. I have never gone to Brunch but I have gone to Karaoke and they used to have an amazing before theater menu.
I think it was 10 and the food was very good.
The portions were huge, I gave the rest to my doorman that night.
