Posted: 12/18/07 at 4:11pmHow was it well deserved? Was she the only contestant to ever have a sh*tty, low-paying job? She was a terrible player. She could have guaranteed herself a spot in the final three, but she chose to remain with an alliance that was never going to let her get to the final tribal.

Posted: 12/18/07 at 4:15pmYou all say that she was an awfull player but, she made it to final 4 so she was doing something right!

She was a big oaf, who was terrible at playing the game, didnt deserve anything but mockery for trying to call out Todd and Amanda at the final tribal council for PLAYING THE FREAKIN' GAME!
Get over it, ya big oaf!

"We granted her a leave to go to participate in `Survivor.' And did everything possible to support her," Lane said. "And when she returned, she of course returned to the position that she left. Which is the custodial position."
"That's perfectly accurate, yes," Martin said in response.
Martin said she decided while she was taping "Survivor" that she wanted to go back to her lunch lady job. Lane said the job was no longer available, but Martin could apply when there is an opening.
"It was not my intention to be misleading," Martin said. "I'm sorry and I apologize to everybody."
Will she accept the $50,000 if it is still offered to her?
"I had no idea that I was going to be awarded that," she said. "I did not do this for myself, I've done this for my family, I've done this for my town."
Margaret Reed, chairwoman of the School Committee, said she was puzzled by Martin's story.
"Everyone was cheering her on," Reed said. "And then we get this slap in the face."

Of course she says that now that she's been caught.
No one ever said she was lying to get them to get extra money. She did start her sob story a few days before the final tribal, though, which was a far cry from how she presented things earlier.
If the money is still offered - which it should not be - she ought to refuse it.

Posted: 12/18/07 at 5:20pmI was happy for her that they gave her the money originally. I felt sorry for her when I thought she lost her job. HEaring that she lied, I don't have sympathy for her. She was not misleading, she clearly said she lost her job as lunch lady and has janitor job, which she made sound like a demotion. Her community supported her and apparently the school system. She was very fortunate that they allowed her the opportunity to participate in Survivir without losing her job. It was wrong that she made the school sytem out to be a bad guy. She certainly didn't set a good example to her kids. I agree she is naive, but in this case she was clearly in the wrong and I do think she was trying to get some sympathy. I don't think it is right for her to accept the money under the circumstances or if she does she should donate it to the school system.

As soon as Denise decided to vote off PG, I knew Todd would win. It was all wrapped up by then. I was seriously hoping Amanda would grow a set and get rid of Todd, which would have been a brilliant move, but she screwed herself, and for what? Did she think she would lose Todd's vote for making a strategic play? Come on! Then she made it even worse in the final tribal council with her weak answers. I really thought Amanda had potential, but she was such a let-down.
Courtney certainly did not deserve to win and I really don't like her, BUT I have to give her props for how she handled that final tribal council. She didn't let any of the questions get to her and her answers, as tactless as they may have been, were respectable. Did she play the best game? No. And she admitted as much. But she played well enough to get to the final three, which was a lot better than anyone on the jury.
Todd played that jury like a baby grand, which put him over the top. Especially his reply to Jean *gag* Ro-Bear. He knew exactly what to say and how to say it to get his vote, but then JR pretty much fed him exactly what to say. It's really a wonder how that man wins anything as a professional poker player when he could barely bluff his way onto the jury. He was a total Survivor Tool.
I had Todd as the front-runner pretty early on, but I didn't think people were stupid enough to let him get to the final four. It was as if they all agreed ahead of time to just hand Todd the million dollars.
And what was with Jaime's speech at tribal council? God, that went on FOREVER! And it was so pointless! She kept smugly asking Amanda, Todd and Courtney why Todd and Courtney deserve NOT to win and it just kept going on and on and on even after Todd and Courtney pretty openly aired all their dirty laundry themselves. At no point did she ask ANYONE why Amanda did not deserve to win or what dirty deeds she performed. It was a total vanity move on her part that did nothing but take up everyone's time. I hate that crap. If you're not going to have a Susan snake/rat meltdown or ask intelligent informative questions, then just wave and sit down. We already know you're an idiot, but at this point, it's just redundant.
I don't know about the whole Denise janitor/custodian/lunch lady thing. It's just too weird. She seemed nice enough, but you never know. And I'm not sure why the producers would label her as "lunch lady" from the beginning unless they decided not to verify her employment before starting the show, which is just stupid on their part, so hey, give her the $50k. They are a bit responsible for the information they provide themselves and it's pretty clear they made no effort to clarify the job title with Denise at any time during shooting even if they had been privy to the correct information. Denise sure doesn't look good in all this, but CBS comes off as having a bit of egg on their faces as well. Wouldn't be the first time. I still think there's more to the story. I mean, it just doesn't make sense that Denise would so blatantly lie (and with such a specific story) on NATIONAL TELEVISION about something so easy to uncover as her primary occupation. Nothing about any of this makes sense.
Anyway, good for Todd. He played the best strategic game and deserved to win, though I would have loved to have seen PG break through and watch that go down. All in all, it wasn't a bad season nor was it great. It had potential of being awesome, but the abundance of stupid stupid stupid decisions alleviated the tension.
I don't get the big deal about James other than he has muscles, which proved ultimately meaningless in the game. He didn't make any real strategic plays. He was handed TWO immunity idols for free and wasted them. He was all cocky and ironically dug his own grave. I could care less about seeing him again. He was yet another Survivor Tool. Bring back Cherie, Angie and Yau Man!! Or Stefanie! I would love to see her for a third season. She is one of my favorite players.
Honestly, why bring back Gary? He was dull as dirt. "I'm not an ex-quarterback! What on earth gave you that idea? You're not going to believe someone who actually watched me play, are you? She's totally lying!" Seriously, did he think people just looked at him an assumed he used to play professional football?? Actually, that's probably exactly what he thought. Who else but a sports journalist (Dani) would even make that kind of connection about him? Two words (go ahead...say them with me): Survivor Tool.

That money is probably more than she makes in a couple of years. Who cares if she lied...... she got the money=-)
The school district and thusly her local community care that she lied. They probably had phones ringing off the hook to take them to task over what she implied, and what she implied was a lie.
In-game lying on Survivor? That's cool. But what she did was real life lying, and it was pathetic and will reflect badly on both her and the school district.
I still think MB should let her keep the money, of course. Because he said he'd give it to her, and even though I find her repulsive, I know her and her family still need it more than Mark Burnett.

It's supposed to be 20 people. 10 "fans" and 10 "favorites" only 4 more than a regular survivor season. I assume that there will be a few tribal councils where two or more people will be voted out.

Posted: 12/19/07 at 10:06amYay for Cirie, Yau Man and Ozzy! Jonathan is a bit of a prick, but he could be fun to watch. The combination of Parvati, Ami and Amanda has the potential of being strategically exciting, especially with Cirie, Yau Man and Ozzy who could make up my dream alliance (only Stef would complete it, however). James will no doubt be cocky and do something stupid. The guy has muscles and absolutely nothing else interesting to offer. Eliza will be the whiny bitch of the All-Star team. I was thrilled when she got booted out of the final four despite having an all-female alliance. It says a lot when you get tossed out of the world's easiest alliance for a member of the opposite sex who is the most likely candidate to win the whole thing. Watch as her eyes appear to grow larger with every episode.

NEW YORK - Denise Martin, who gained fame as the lunch lady on CBS' reality show "Survivor: China," is donating the $50,000 she received from producer Mark Burnett to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDs Foundation.
Martin told viewers on Sunday night's live finale that she'd been demoted to janitor at a school in Douglas, Mass., after finishing fourth on the show. After hearing her story, Burnett surprised Martin with the money to help get her life back.
On Tuesday, Martin acknowledged on CBS' "The Early Show" that she'd been promoted to custodian, at her own request, before the competition began.
"It was not my intention to be misleading," Martin, 40, said on the broadcast. "I'm sorry, and I apologize to everybody."
In a statement issued Tuesday by the network, Martin said she took "full responsibility" for her actions.
"I do not feel comfortable about accepting the $50,000. I would instead ask that it be donated to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation," the statement said. "Please accept my apology. I would also like to thank all the people who have supported me through this experience."

This whole thing was just ick. It's kind of sad, really. She just seems to be one unlucky woman. And she doesn't seem to make good choices, as evidenced on the show and in life. Oh, Denise.
I didn't realize there were so many Survivor watchers on here.
