Tonight’s second episode was excellent. Shows how messy reports of sexual harassment can be and then you add on the extra complex layer of Survivor gameplay. Some of her tribemates are gonna feel like chumps (looking at you, Aaron) when they get home and watch the season back and see Janet was absolutely telling the truth.
Secondly, what is it this season with so many people going home with one or two immunity idols in their pockets? This has got to be a record, right?

See, this wasn’t excellent to me. It felt gross watching it. At first I felt gross watching this guy harass this girl and then I felt gross that they were playing it up in order to get him voted out and then I felt gross just watching the whole thing play out the way it did.

Don’t get me wrong. It was gross, but shouldn’t reports of sexual harassment make us feel that way? I also do agree that it was pretty gross how the women verbally supported Janet (who ironically didn’t have a personal issue with Dan) in standing up for them, but then left her out to dry when she stood up for them, but I do imagine that also happens in the workplace. Women feeling uncomfortable with a male co-worker’s behavior, but afraid of standing up then one woman stands up and they don’t support her. And then some men assuming because they didn’t know about it, it couldn’t be true so attacking the woman instead. I’m not saying it was excellent because any of that is awesome. I’m just saying it explored an issue in more complexity than reality tv is usually capable of.

Phenomenal
Episode in the sense that Miles just described it. Terrible episode in result of what happened and the DISGUSTING players we have this season. Aaron, Missy, and Elizabeth can go f themselves for all I’m concerned. What terrible people, toying with peoples lives that way. Such a serious issue sadly not taking seriously enough, a true microcosm of sexual assault/predatory behavior and reporting. It is why I ultimately love survivor because it brings us reality checks like these, but that was gut wrenching to watch. Sis $ to Janet please

My feeling about Dan is he does have some white male privilege going on. Like at tribal counsel when he was mentioning all he has accomplished in the middle of addressing concerns about his behavior. As if that makes any difference. Many powerful men (Weinstein, Trump, Bill Clinton) have a history of sexual harassment or worse. Do what you’ve accomplished is not a defense against reports of sexual harassment. Now I’m not saying Dan’s behavior was even close to those men’s behavior. It wasn’t from what I saw. But (also from what I saw), he only invaded the personal boundaries of the women, not the men. He wasn’t rubbing the feet of the men uninvited, as far as I could see. So that’s a problem. Not that he should be doing that to the men either. It would be interesting to know if these behaviors also permeated his workplace, but no one ever felt comfortable speaking up or they were fine with it. In the end, I think he has poor personal boundaries with women. He very possibly had no sexual intentions behind these behaviors, but ultimately only he knows. It’s also complicated by the fact that some of the women complained about it, but then retreated from their allegations. Murky waters for sure. Definitely not black-and-white, just like life. Which is what I liked about the episode. I’m usually not thinking about a Survivor episode the next day, but I suspect this one will stick with me. I do wonder how things will be for Dan and some of the other players (Elizabeth, Missy, Aaron) when they get home.
On another note, I was really proud of Jamal for standing up for women at tribal counsel. I had an issue with him last week (can’t recall what; like I said, Survivor episodes don’t tend to stick with me), but between this and his tactful way of dealing with the do-rag comment a few episodes back, he proved impressive. It also points out that Survivor is allowing us to see real world issues playing out on the island more this season or maybe that’s just my perception.

They already are home Miles, they filmed this season last March/April. The season that airs this coming February filmed last June/July, so they're all just mostly silent on social media right now.
Here's my issue with Dan: from episode 1, we saw Kellee complain to him, on camera, 1 on 1 about her being uncomfortable with his behavior, they discussed it, it was squashed, but clearly, crystal clearly, Dan did not stop. The entire pre merge. They showed him grabbing Missy's leg last week. He's disgusting, I've felt that way from episode 1. He clearly shows no remorse either, as he just wanted Jeff to move on from it. All he cares about is his self image and not the harm/how uncomfortable he has made these women feel. Thats my stance on Dan. Kellee addressed this with him on episode 1 and day 1, it should have stopped then.
I am beyond glad they showed video for every single thing they mentioned, no way to defend yourself then, Dan.
Missy and Elizabeth are truly, pathetic. Using this as strategy in the game was wrong on SO many levels.
1: Way to stand up for women who've been abused or harassed, including yourselves. I understand its a game, and thats one of the most difficult issues with sexual assault is speaking up, but Janet did and they SHAMED HER. F'ing wrong, and disgusting irreprehensible behavior from those two women. They tried to make Janet look like she lied about the entire thing, utterly disgusting. Jonny FairPlay is a SAINT compared to those two.
2: If the accusations against Dan were truly untrue (which we see they weren't), Elizabeth and Missy playing it up as if it was real is equally as disgusting. This is something not to be taken lightly, you're on national television, and his life and career could be ruined by this. Shows how ignorant and immature those 2 are when it comes to this subject.
3: They were laughing about it. They laughed about making up the story and playing it up big time. My God, just disgusting.
I am a Survivor die hard, I listen to several podcasts about it weekly, I watch live every Wednesday and cancel plans to watch, this show truly means a lot to me personally. While I am truly disgusting and saddened by the majority of the contestants behavior, props to Survivor for dealing with this issue head on and not shying away from it one bit. Im really proud of Jeff for shutting Dan down, I'm really proud of this show for showing the situation like it is, no matter how tragic. Cause frankly, its reality. Women are silenced far too often, and the people who speak up become the villains.
What a scary microcosm of America right now. Its going to be hard watching this season going forward, but oddly, stuff like this is why I love Survivor. Not because "OMG DRAMA" because this showed authentic, human emotion. God I was balling when Janet, life long fan, has an idol, wanted to quit because of how terrible people were. Just terribly sad, but real and raw and authentic. Again though, Survivor is the realest of reality tv, and shows why they are still here 20 years later. Love this show.

Maybe a bit of an overreaction, but I simply cannot watch this season after last week. I truly believe not enough was done on productions part, and they are MAJOR ones to blame here. According to Kellee's exit interviews, she approached Dan on day 1 (which we saw), Janet did on day 6, Lauren did not long after, then we have the group meeting and "official" warning given to Dan, I mean honestly, when is enough, enough? Im not sure what else they needed to feel he should be removed from the game. I understand this is a heavy situation, and they don't want to set the precedent of any player complaining to remove someone from the game, but, this is unacceptable. The video evidence is there, Probst didn't even ask Kellee about speaking at the last tribal until AFTER Jamal was voted out, she had no idea that tribal council was gong to be about her and the Dan situation , she was not allowed to see the episode beforehand, there was ZERO warning from production on any of this, there was nothing at the end of the show to acknowledge anyone triggered by this and hotlines to call/resosurces to get help for any sexual harassment victims, Probst has only done his weekly interviews via email rather than the phone, they JUST finally let Kellee and Jamal speak unlike most contestants who do the morning after.
Idk, I'm very disappointed in this show. Been a big part of my life for quite some time but its hard to support the show much more after this, or for me at the very least I can no longer support this season. It doesn't seem many people outside of the hardcore survivor community have taken the last episode as hard as we have, but I am just so disturbed by whats transpired this season. Especially after all the talk about strong women, women's alliances, a woman winning this game, its so disappointing and I can't see how the season is salvaged. Plus, the practical zero response from Survivor and CBS other than "Just the craziness of the merge!" and no prior warning leaves a really sick feeling for me.
Just my opinion, it does not have to be others. I'll likely join you all again for S40. Enjoy.

I thought tonight was a good episode. Found myself switching loyalties throughout. Karishma is really her own worst enemy. Not contributing to the tribe, often coming across as emotional which hampers good game play. However, the way Noura treated her and talked about her highly annoyed me. I was very happy for Karishma when the found the immunity idol that ironically occurred when Noura sent her to find coconuts.
Then the unexpected happened with splitting the tribes at the immunity challenge for one tribal council only. Loyalties shifted. I did think initially Karishma didn’t display good game play when Missy approached her, but they have a history that certainly played into that. The longer the episode played out, the more annoyed I got with Missy’s behavior. I also thought that her calling out Jeff was pretty ridiculous. He handled it tactfully, but regardless of what’d he had done, he’d have been criticized. I’m glad she went home...although why was she allowed to whisper gameplay into Liz’s ear before having her torch snuffed out?
I’m also glad Janet stayed although I was exasperated with her mending fences with Dan. I get that the women threw her under the bus last week and she’s vulnerable, but it seemed like more than gameplay. While I was glad to see Missy go and Janet stay, that did result in 2 POC going to jury which was bad optics.

I have admittedly not watched this season since that awful merge episode, but I have heard Dan was removed for another incident. Kellee indicated on twitter it was another inappropriate touching, and some reports have led to believe it occurred when leaving a challenge, getting on a boat to head back to camp and Dan touched/grabbed a woman's leg (who happened to be a member of production) while getting on the boat to "Hold his balance". There is no confirmation this story is true, but its been reported a few times now. Probst and the rest of CBS and Survivor production have made no comment, so clearly in my eyes there is some legal action taking place somewhere. Who its between and what its about, we don't know.
But man, Survivor, you totally f'd this up. Big time. Almost unforgivable for me. The fact another person had to be the subject of his behavior for something to be done SHOWS that they should've removed him at the merge, if not earlier. Just awful, and I feel so terrible for the women on this season, the other contestants who's dreams of being on the show are tainted from Dan, Dan's family and son who will forever be known as the family member of that creepy dude on Survivor. Its just a terrible situation that frankly should have been handled before.
I doubt this is the last we hear of this, for a long time to come. They are even pre taping the finale and reunion show next week. I REALLY hope that is just because they don't want it live and being out of control, but if its only to save any comments that speak poorly of production and/or CBS, then shame on them. I recommend going to Kellee's twitter as she had a great statement after last night. Hopefully, CBS, and the Survivor production team can learn from this.
If anything else to learn here, as Karishma said recently: Believe woman, and keep your hands to yourself.

Just a casual watcher of this thread, but for the first time since season 3(Africa), I've stopped watching this season. Truly dreadful with some of the worst contestants ever.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Him not saying anything makes me 100% believe a lawsuit is going on. Whether its Dan vs CBS, the victim of this latest incident vs CBS, Dan vs this person, Kellee vs CBS, who knows. But clearly, CBS has to be to blame at some point here. This issue began on DAY 1. DAY 1. This should have never gotten as out of hand as it did. Shame on you Survivor and Jeff Probst, you should truly feel ashamed of yourselves. I know it means nothing because I'm 1 person, but you've lost a viewer in me.

I thought Jeff handled everything as well as he could last night. The show held themselves accountable, completely admitted fault, and let Kellee say everything she wanted. Proud of Kellee for doing what she did. It sucks she was forced into this position by the show but she has handled it incredibly well so far. I send all my support to her!
Other than that, yawn. I didn't watch since the merge episode but it feels like Tommy was obvious from the get go last night.
Anyways, next season looks great!!!

I thought it was going to be Dean until the very end of that tribal council. I’m very very happy that Tommy won though, he was a great player and seems like an all around nice guy.
