Posted: 8/24/04 at 6:34pmI think it's one thing to discuss a show, and one thing to beat it with a stick. I'm not the biggest fan of Wicked, I think it's a flawed show with great performances, but I think that the people who don't like it comment on it as much, if not more, than the fanatics. Let it go. How many times can you talk about whether or not a show is "good"? I'm just as annoyed with the constant bashing of Wicked as I am with the "OMG WICKED RULEZZZ!!" Talk about something else. I ADORE Sweeney Todd!

Not even going to bother holding down keys to display my shock at seeing this post, but Sweeney Todd is a flawless, masterpiece. In my opinion, it is the greatest musical play ever.

Posted: 8/24/04 at 6:40pmWhatevdude - So, your proposal is that those who DO wish to talk about Wicked should refrain be cause it annoys YOU? Perhaps you should save us all some time and provide a list of topics you find acceptable. I'm certain that no one here wants to step outside the boundaries of propriety that you alone can set.

I was going to post something similar to what Nugg-Nugg posted, but then I saw that that wasn't the point. Oh well.
SWING YOUR RAZOR WIDE, SWEENEY...

Sorry, I can't agree about Sweeney. There is some gorgeous music in this score.
Perhaps you need to go back and listen to the OCR again? Let's make that your homework and after you've heard it cover to cover at least 10 times come back and report.
Okay, kids...that should give us a week or two to talk about Sweeney as much as we want!!!! :)

35 grams of fat, too....
and I love SWEENEY TODD. I adore the concert version with Hearn and LuPone more than anything... more than life... more than riches... more than the moon.

I don't like these stupid show "Ick" or "S**t" posts either but....
Sweeney Todd Rocks! (I was in a production of it this summer!)

Posted: 8/24/04 at 7:17pmSweeney Todd is one of my favourite musicals. Then again I love shows that are really dark.I am a Sondheim fan, also.

Posted: 8/24/04 at 7:23pmI think I would pick Sweeney. I love Into the Woods, too, but at the end of the day I enjoy Sweeney just a little bit more... tough choice.

Posted: 8/25/04 at 9:49amSweeney just gets better and better as the years go by (I mean in my head and heart) I had always loved listening to the OBC, and had seen the taping with George and Angela.. but it wasn't until I had a chance to be in a production of it that I actually appreciated it for everything that it is - and every time I see a new production or listen to an older one, I still learn more and more about it and appreciate it more for the masterwork that it is. Stephen Sondheim - you Rock!

Posted: 8/25/04 at 11:11amAnother vote for Sweeney! Well, just look at my icon. I think that the lyrics and score to this musical are just beautiful, and yes the plot is dark but it's also funny and sad and touching. I'm just completely in love with this musical. Oh, and as to the subject of the thread, yeah I just don't click on those discussions.
