I just picked the DVD up at Big Lots for $3. I love that movie too..I almost keeled over when I saw it in the store.
It's also on one of those Warners Classic four-movie packs.
Tomorrow at 6 pm:
I never got into this one much, despite the cast. I'm a big June Allyson fan. It just pales in comparison to "The Women."
But it's lightyears ahead of that hideous Nora Ephron remake. Eeek!
Horror movie schedule for October
Forbidden Planet and Alien tonight!
I've been loving all the horror movies! Saw the Christoper Lee "Dracula" marathon the other night. Great to see them in HD, too.
Yay...thanks for the list MM! Wish I had seen it before...I'm so far behind!
I love this time of year as I get to catch up on so many horror films I never got to see, and see favorites again. Usually I just search horror on my dvr and click away. Trouble is, it fills up so quickly!
Buster Keaton's The General is playing Wednesday at 8:00 pm.
Death on the Nile is on this evening.
Maggie Smith and Bette Davis for the win!
So random that they showed the Hearn video of Sweeney Todd tonight. I know sometimes they show things that don't fit their schedule (I was thrilled when they had the John Lasseter hosted Studio Ghibli animation festival a few years back--even airing the awesome Only Yesterday even though Disney who owns the US rights still hasn't releaed it to DVD since they don't know how to market an animated film aimed at adults but that doesn't have any violence, fantasy or sex...
I've heard more than once that Angela considers Mrs. Lovett THE role she will be remembered for. It's a little odd for a "movie" channel to be showing a live/taped performance of a stage musical, but TCM does some unorthodox things, which is why I love them ... and they are celebrating Angela Lansbury as their "star of the month," so why not show her "most memorable role" (according to her)?
I say good for them.
*faceplant* I didn't realize, or simply wasn't thinking, that tonight's theme/"star of the month" is Lansbury. OK--well that's great that they included it then.
Man's Favorite Sport today at 4 pm.
Pretty Poison with Tuesday Weld and Anthony Perkins tonight at 10:15 pm est.
Pretty Poison trailer
Spiral Staircase tonight!
Sunday is a celebration of Judy Garland's 90th birthday!
TCM host Robert Osborne and Garland historian John Fricke are co-hosting a 24-hour marathon of her films!

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes up next!
It seems like TCM never shows The Rose Tattoo or Come Back, Little Sheba. Do they not own those two?

I feel like Come Back, Little Sheba was on pretty recently? Maybe it was another channel, but I know I caught it on tv (and I thought it was TCM) not long ago.
The 1936 Show Boat is on early this morning at 1:15 Central.
The Rose Tattoo and Come Back, Little Sheba are both still owned by Paramount.
I say "still," because Paramount sold off nearly 80 percent of their old movies to Universal (which is why the old films by WC Fields, Mae West, Hope & Crosby, etc., are now released via Universal, even though when they start, you see the Paramount logo at the beginning).
TCM's major partner is Warner Home Entertainment. Warner Bros. owns the biggest "back catalogue" of any studio in Hollywood right now. Five times as many titles as any other, in fact.
They own the broadcast rights to the old Warner movies (obviously), plus the massive MGM catalogue, plus the RKO catalogue. That's a whole lotta movies.
You will occasionally see movies outside of this standard catalogue show up on TCM. Universal and Paramount often license their titles for airing on TCM. Sometimes, it's even viewed as a "promotional" airing, like the recent restoration of "Wings" (a Paramount title).
In any case, these are not standard titles for TCM, so they don't show up very often. I would still look for them, though. They're bound to turn up eventually ... even if it's infrequently.
There was, maybe five years back, a great Studio Ghibli retrospective on TCM, co-hosted by John Lasseter. They showed the films dubed *and* then later subtitled, and even showed one of my faves, Takahata's Only Yesterday which Disney owns but still hasn't figured out how to release, it seems. At the time there was some discussion that they couldn't show Takahata's Grave of the Fireflies due to the fact Disney didn't own the NA rights to it--I'm not sure how or who they talked to to instigate the whole thing.
I just remembered this thread. TCM has been showing some musicals today.
6am-Finian's Rainbow
8:30am-Funny Girl-I recorded this one.
11:15am-My Fair Lady-Currently watching.
2:15pm-Camelot
5:30pm-Hello, Dolly!
And not musicals, but they have The Pink Panther on at 8pm and The Asphalt Jungle on at 10pm for those who might be interested.
It must be "Big '60s Musicals Day" on TCM. Love it!
