Saw it last night. Umm... not bad. Not bad at all. I prefer the first one, but this one sticks to its guns and gives us the same atmosphere and style.

The acting is, well, not great. But, I guess it's good enough. Gellar's cameo is decent, Tamblyn (who I usually love) has been better, and Arielle Kebbel has her moments. Misako Uno is one of the worst actresses I've ever seen. Jennifer Beals gives the most convincing performance.

On the negative side, some things just didn't make sense. The writer seems to now be changing the rules of the curse. On one side, without giving anything away, the curse is now working to the script's advantage. On the other, this is the supernatural that we're talking about, and there's no reason why the curse couldn't be working in these ways. Even so, the milk thing was unnecessary and the "peek-a-boo" thing was out of place.

I'm really surprised that many of the reviews have said that the film's narrative is confusing. I find it hard to believe that, even while the credits are rolling, they can't piece it all together. There's really not much to it.

If this movie is no more than trash, it is well-made trash with some really good scares. Takashi Shimizu does "jumps" better than just about anyone. It's a fun, stupid, entertaining, and creepy Halloween movie. Updated On: 10/23/06 at 02:37 PM
