When this project was first announced and it was revealed that Mike Myers was creating a new character, there was reason for optimism. The WAYNE'S WORLD movies are masterpieces and the first AUSTIN POWERS (but ONLY the first) was a terrific satire. Since then, however, most of his stuff has been pretty bad. GOLDMEMBER still ranks as an extremely depressing and awful comedy.
Nonetheless, do you think THE LOVE GURU will be any good based on that trailer? The trailer wasn't that funny (Midget jokes? Didn't you do that already?) but I think I might still give it a chance.

Posted: 3/13/08 at 4:58amAnd isn't it EXACTLY the same plot as a real stinker from a few years ago called jut "The Guru"? It starred "The Indian Tom Cruise" and a couple bimbettes and the finale was them recreating the "You're the One That I Want" number from Grease.

Posted: 6/17/08 at 8:59pmI thought it looked awful. I mean, worse than anything Mike Myers has ever done. I was trying to find a movie to see this weekend for my birthday, but there is just absolutely nothing good opening on Friday.

Looks absolutely dreadful.
On the other hand, GET SMART looks like it might be pretty good.

Posted: 6/18/08 at 3:30pmThe first time I saw the trailer, I laughed really hard at some points. Now, any time I see advertisments for it, I don't even chuckle. It looks like crap and it's sad because Mike Myers has given some great comedic performances. That being said, if I have to see a movie this weekend, it's going to be Get Smart.
