TRON: Legacy

Did anyone else go see it?
I loved every second of it, as a huge fan of the original. Jeff Bridges was amazing, as usual. This movie had several things going for it, for me: I love the original, I love Jeff Bridges, I love Disney. So, I guess I'm just a bit biased. lol The script was weak at times, but that's expected with a big action/sci-fi movie like this. And the 3D/Effects were outstanding. What they did to make Jeff Bridges look like he did back in the 80's was outstanding. It looked a bit mo-cap sometimes, but it's forgivable. Especially considering how great it really looked at times.

I, too, was a fan of the original.
THis? Loved the concept, but was mostly bored. And I thought YOUNG Bridges looked incredibly artificial....like his face couldn't move.
My 10 year old loved it -- and that's why I went...so all is good.

CGI Bridges almost ruined an otherwise enjoyable movie. It was distractingly poor motion capture. I've seen video game graphics that moved more realistically than that. I would have been more accepting if they limited it to the Clu character since he's a computer program anyway, but using it for flashbacks for the real flesh and blood Flynn character was a big mistake.
Aside from that, I had a good time and enjoyed the world of the Grid a great deal. Michael Sheen was a hoot.

Posted: 12/21/10 at 6:53pmI loved the 'visuals' and the soundtrack, and the acting at times, but I just think that with a better script this movie could have been a revolutionary sci-fi movie like THE MATRIX instead of just another pedestrian high-budget blockbuster sci-fi movie.

I *TRIED* the 3-D experience again. I even tried it in IMAX. I HATED every 3-D film so far, sometimes not because of the content, but always because the 3-D added NOTHING to the film. Having those glasses on, if anything, is a distraction! It makes the screen blurry, too. HATE IT.
HOWEVER, that being said, during the previews I found that the 3-D elements added to my enjoyment of them! Especially for the GREEN HORNET trailer. I have seen the GREEN HORNET trailer four times in regular 2-D before, but when I saw the 3-D version, the trailer was SO much different and I found that it did, for the first time outside of a theme park, ADDED TO THE FILM.
This was not the case for TRON, however. There was nothing special whatsoever. I paid $19 for my ticket, when I could have seen it in 2-D instead for $13. Took the gamble and now I'm out of $6.
Never again will I go to a 3-D film. I've tried it several times now, and each time I say I hated it and in each instance I am told by friends and reviews that "the 3-D is amazing and makes the film SO much better!," just as I was told about TRON. SO disappointing. Never again. No more. If I can't see it in 2-D, then I won't see it.
Oh, and that being said, TRON was dull, even if it were in 2-D. Today I wanted to see a piece of fluff. A non-thinking, mindless movie where I could sit back and relax and forget about the Holidays. Well, I got just that, but something tells me I would have enjoyed GULLIVER'S TRAVELS or even YOGI BEAR more.

"Well, I got just that, but something tells me I would have enjoyed GULLIVER'S TRAVELS or even YOGI BEAR more."
Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic both score that would not be the case. And apparently the 'Booboo kills Yogi' parody short on Youtube put more thought and plot into the story than the screenwriters of Yogi Bear.
