Mark my words: Promo for the BluRay. Nothing more.
I doubt that Lynch and Frost would have timed their Twitter posts to promote the Blu-ray more than two months after its release. Also, the two weren't on good terms for some time. The fact that they're collaborating again - and synching their cryptic tweets - is good news. Lynch and Frost were never involved in fueling past rumors and speculation. This time, I think there may be something more to it. The original series is currently streaming on NETFLIX. Might an announcement be imminent?
Given that many of the main characters were killed in the finale, and many of the actors have died, I suspect that the revival will be a very different animal, for better or worse.
Perhaps the best way to continue the series is in a slightly different medium. I can see Lynch and Frost collaborating with an anime studio on a sequel series; though the imagery of the first two or three episodes made it into the mainstream consciousness, it's the increasing weirdness of the ongoing series, especially the slide into surreal magic-realism that marked the Windom Earle/Black Lodge subplot, that resonated in Japan and became a strong influence on the more avant-garde anime that followed.
Anyone have the blu ray? It's pretty great. The series looks fantastic on blu ray. It's like watching it again for the first time.
I working my way through the series. Haven't gotten to all the deleted scenes from the movie yet.
If it does come back, I hope it comes back on Netflix or another service. Without the interference of nervous network tv execs.
Yes, Erik, I have the Blu-ray set. Pretty amazing! Looks incredible! Working my way through the series, as well. On season two. Watched episode 14 tonight. It was directed by Lynch. Powerful stuff! One of the best episodes of the series, in my opinion. It would be controversial by today's standards. Really drove home how ahead of its time this show actually was.
I haven't gotten there yet but I remember episode 14. IMHO...one of the best episodes of TV period.
So it looks like it's official. David Lynch and Mark Frost will be bringing Twin Peaks to Showtime in 2016.
*Updated to add there will be 9 new episodes. Each written by David Lynch and Mark Frost and directed by David Lynch.

Yup! It's official! I'm ecstatic! And thrilled that it's going to SHOWTIME! Just wish we didn't have to wait until 2016.

I'm a bit disillusioned by EricMontreal22, since watching TV, reading about TV and posting about TV is his life. How could he have been so wrong?

Oh hi Eric. What other things did I think you knew about?

Can I even trust your understanding of the Karen and Larry Wolack/Marco Dane prostitution scandal in Llanview?
Yes, but only because Judith Light's courtroom scenes are up on youtube...
So so excited for this

I wonder who will be coming back from the original cast. I'm going to miss Jack Nance
Announced yesterday...Kyle MacLachlan will be returning as Agent Cooper.

Sadly, it doesn't look like this will happen. Very disappointing.
Breaking news out of WonderCon: Showtime has apparently pulled the plug on the new Twin Peaks TV series. No word yet as to why.
Update on Twin Peaks...
Dear Facebook Friends, David Lynch wanted me to pass along the following statement:
Showtime did not pull the plug on Twin Peaks.
After one year and four months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done.
This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing.
Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime.
I love the world of Twin Peaks and wish things could have worked out differently.
