Taking a short break to help clear my head before I start my next paper that I waited until the last minute to do. Does anyone ever pretend that papers they are writing are vitally importat to something you care about very much? It's almost like acting. I have to write these two observation reports for my religious studies class. I am pretending it is an important documentation of how a church operates it's services because the director of a musical is counting on my analysis so he can accurately recreate this particular denominations church service in this musical. He has to have this report tomorrow otherwise the sho will get even further behind schedule. Now I grant that it's not very realistic, but it tricks me into getting excited about the paper and before I know it I'm done. Anyone else have any tricks like this? Don't worry I am not checking back in until my next paper is done.

good luck!!!! somehow i make myself stay up all nite and do it pigging out on candy hehehehhe o man by the end of college im gonna be one fat girl lol
No amount of pretending helps. No amount at all. Why do you think I'm still on here even though I've got a paper due in 8 hours and 21 minutes?
I pretend things like that all the time. Anywhere from pretending my English paper is going to be published in a novel to my math papers being the answer to cold fusion (which is a fascinating subject all on its own...) ... it's rather sad actually, but it gets me through it...
Good luck son_of_a_gun! I know how you feel. I just finished all my exams and papers today -- now I'm enjoying a glass of red wine while surfing BWW. Hope you finish soon!
" I am pretending it is an important documentation of how a church operates it's services because ...."
Wow. I wish I thought about this sort of stuff when I was in college. I just sort of...did mine. I usually did well, but that trick would have probably made some of the more painful ones more pleasant. NOW you tell me. Thanks a lot, gunn.

Ok another one down!!! I am going to go get some divine inspiration then I am plunging into my next paper. Once I get it done I am going to reward myself by allowing myself to actually sleep. It's nice every few days or so to get a chance to sleep.
Oh god I'm still here. Only 1/3 of my essay done. This sucks.
Tiff if you go take a five minute walk outside I bet it will help wake you up if you are tired or feeling ufocused. I know it just helped me... It's gotta be colder there than it is here too! Ok now really I have to get this done before I lose my focus! YOU CAN DO IT TIFF!!!
Oh my god...You know when you're up so long and so late that your senses start to get extra sensitive and everything seems really loud and really cold?
Yeah, I'm there. *brr* I'm actually not feeling too tired, just really ADD. I'm looking up random things online to keep from doing this paper.
How are you doing now?
I am in the state where I am sleepy but the sleepiness is in a state of suspension. My thoughts are coming througha bit of a fog so going back and forth between it and the board helps to keep me sharp actually. I find I am watching the keyboard much more than I usually do when I type.
I find I tend to write the best when I hit a certain state of delirium and exhaustion. I think I'm there.
What's your topic on?
Two four page observation reports for my religion in american culture class. I just finished my second so I am going to get some sleep before my final in that class at 9:45 BEST OF LUCK TIFF!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Gunn!! GET SOME SLEEP YA LUCKY BASTARD!!
I overslept my alarm by two and a half hours!!!!!
I already emailed the prof. Most profs say there are no make ups but what they say and what they will actually do if you tell the truth and ask nicely are two completely different things. Keep your fingers crossed for me folks! I need all the help I can get!
Got an email back. She drops the lowest test score! Yay! I am only getting out of there with a B- but it's better than an F! Woohoo!!!!!!

Yay Son!!!
And you didn't have to take an exam. Sweet.
I have an exam in 27 minutes. Wish me luck!
Good luck Jess! (Actually by now I should ask how did it go??)
Oh my god, Gunn! I would cry! At least your lowest score gets dropped! Are you done now?

Thanks Tiff! It actually went extremely well. It was hellish writing for 2.5 hours straight, but I knew all but one of the questions, and I kind of enjoyed the essays.
Ugh...I am just "awaiting" those days when I am going to have to take college exams. I'm still in the world of high school midterms and finals, and those can be difficult. How do you guys do it?
And I have a paper on Wuthering Heights due next Wednesday, luckily it only has to be a couple of pages...but then I got this huge project coming up. Yuck.
Oooh! Wuthering Heights! Nice! (Are you in the IB Program?)
How do we do it? In all honestly, with fright and a lot of caffeine. That can get me through anything.

College exams look impossible until you actually finish them. Right now, my mind boggles at the thought of writing a master's thesis, but I'll probably end up doing it one day anyway. You do it because it needs to get done.

Eh, they're stressful, but finals weeks can be fun sometimes too. Everyone is stressed at the same time, so instead of studying, you go sledding with cafeteria trays (wait, i don't do that, what are you talking about?)
Also, you don't have classes, unlike in high school, which is also kind of nice.
But they can definitely be overwhelming. You handle them because you have to, just like anything else.

And I would like to point out, for the record, that I got off last night without the aid of scary Tiff pictures.
Yay for me!

Of course, all my profs were kind enough to make their final papers due while classes were still going on. Thanks, guys. Really.
