the grapes, Tiff, are groovy! They're very sweet, which I'm not usually a fan of (but Undi apparently is), but these literally tasted like little cold drops of wine.. very, very nice.. :)
I had to betray the secret of the Lower Mainland, btw..
I led them out through Downtown East past the $10 hookers and meth addicts and out East Hastings to Hwy 1, then out past Burnaby and Coquitlam to BC-15 South through Surrey's Cloverdale... we were to the border in a FLASH!
I'm still thrilled over the suspension bridge, girlie!
EMP was interesting, tiff. I hold a serious resentment towards that ugly building, but it's quite cool inside. The Sky Church was quite impressive.
Last eve we drove up to the park that is shown in EVERY movie that takes place in Seattle because of the beautiful views. It really is spectacular.
Undi, I have to disagree with you and DD... I LOVE EMP's exterior...it's the INTERIOR I don't dig..
I love the exhibits, but SkyChurch is so ... (yawn) to me... when there's a performance there, it feels like a band playing in a lobby next to the elevator :)
yes, yes, I was cruel and took you through East Hastings, but I kept us out of the rest of the Hockey traffic to the South and the road work in the tunnel under the Fraser I heard about earlier, so we flew :) I just wish they had cooler things at that shop we went to, seeing a beautiful smile of acquisition in a shopper's face makes me smile :)
HEY... remember the Elephant Dung Road that we found near Aberdeen Centre in Richmond...
well, while that Bus Rapid Transit thing appears to be possibly DOA, it appears that after 15 years of arguing about it, those nice rich neighborhoods in Vancouver south of Granville Island will finally have to yield to LIGHT RAIL...
YIPEE.. The Canada Line ... from Richmond Centre all the way to downtown Vancouver, with a spur to Vancouver Int'l Airport.. and theoretically to be complete by 2009!!!
Moving the Lower Mainland!
Ugh... I hate, hate, hate the blob at the bottom of the Space Needle. Why did he give Balboa their beautiful museum and LA the Disney Concert Hall, and we got that.
I heard on the news today that Pike Place Market and Tully's are expecting a dramatic drop in business today.
I absolutely LOVE that BLOB! Love it, love it, love it!
After that, I dig that new building you see heading down 2nd Ave as it become 2nd Ave Ext South (looks like you'll run into it and it's sliding off its self) and the (first) Washington Mutual Tower and then the gothic Seattle Tower across the street with the gargoyles..
I think costaricans must have too many tile roofed sleepy villas to appreciate the art :)
Undi... I only regret that DD and I didn't have our heads on straight and actually stopped to look at TULIPS..
beautiful flowers in that valley we drove through
The Seattle Tower is where our new offices are located.
And you must admit there is a lack of tiled-roof buildings in Seattle.
You know Fido loves you for that statement... he's so on your side.
LOOOOOONG day today.
*sigh* I can't believe I just discovered that park.
I think the next visitor is not due until August, unless someone's keeping their visit quiet. K?
Where have all the sexy people on this thread been? (And Fido.)
This weekend could be a challenge, but we should try to make it work..
Saturday day I *may* be helping a ladys softball team out (fundraising), but who knows... Saturday afternoon the show the DD has been choreographing (out in the beautiful forest way, way east of The Emerald City) has its opening.
Overall, Saturday seems the best
Sunday I'm pretty solidly booked, but DD may be available... and in the afternoon we'll both be at HOOTERS on Lake Union for a cool event!!! (you should COME!)
DD -- anymore to add?
I think Ms. T will be here the following weekend, not this coming weekend. I, unfortunately, will not be around.
RE: Wicked, the run is completely sold-out, but you can still get tickets from resellers. I also know a certain someone who has a certain ticket to sell...

Jeepers, the whole Wicked run is sold out?! I don't know why I'm so surprised. I didn't realize it would be so hyped in the PNW! And who is this certain someone? (Am I really dense?)
When are you lads seeing DRS?
And yep, I meant next weekend (August 5-6), not this weekend. I'm still not sure yet if I'll catch the matinee or evening show. I'd rather see the matinee since there are better seats available, but I also don't want to break up my shopping day!
BTW, what good restaurants are close to Paramount? Last time I saw a show there, I had the misfortune of going to a burrito place and having to sit through 3 hours of POTO with my ass muscles clenched.
Oh dear... there's SO much near the Paramount.
What do you want? Price range?
Moderately priced, good asian/fusion: Blowfish
Also you could try Palomino for dinner
Oceanaire for seafood
Buenos Aires Grill (a walk, though) for steak
Tell me what you want, $$ to spend...
Price...I wouldn't say it doesn't matter, but since I'm treating them then...yeah, price doesn't matter that much. We were thinking of the Space Needle again (I know it's not near Paramount) - there was great food when we went in 2001, but I think it was Fido who said the quality's declined a lot lately?
The point is, something in the Space Needle range is okay. I remember you mentioning the Palomino a few times...
Let's say $8-$15 for appys and $15-$40 for entrees. What the hell. (It means they'll be getting the nosebleed seats for DRS - BTW, the Paramount mezz is steep as hell, right? - and I'll be doing row C solo! )
he he
The Mezzanine is totally steep.
Ok...
SKIP Space Needle.
Palomino is one of my faves

Are you driving? If so, I recommend Palisade. It had fallen from grace, but they have a new chef and it's awesome.
Also Dahlia Lounge. A short walk from the Paramount. A Tom Douglas signature restaurant. Haven't been there in a long time...
Oh f*ck me, Undi! I'm such a classless c*nt! I got your present weeks ago and forgot to text or PM you with thanks! Sowwy. I did get it and I've consumed half of it (pacing myself, you know!). I meant to ask you - seriously, I was going to get around to it - if you want lychee tea or lychee syrup. Lychee tea won't be sweet, but lychee syrup, if diluted with water (and, well, green tea) would taste similar to the bubble tea we had in Richmond.
DD, is the Palomino the restaurant we went to before The Wedding Singer?
And yep, we're driving. Gimme a mo' - gonna check out the sites of those places you listed.
undi! Hiya! I thought you were on vacation?
I've been swamped at work, and running to Snoqualmie afterwards has left me no time to stop by the post office. It's in my car... I swear!
If you're driving, I would strongly recommend Palisade. Great view of the city in addition to the fabulous food.
No, we ate a quickie dinner at a pub... can't think of the name right now.
not bad!
Tiff, I strongly recommend Palisade. Great food and amazing views.

I'll check around for the syrup, Undi. I haven't found it here either but I'm sure it's around somewhere!
Yeah, we had a quickie dinner, DD, but I don't think it was at a pub. It was at a restaurant that had split-levels inside. I had the balsamic chicken pasta and camerangel had that cheese soup. Do you remember? I can't put my finger on it. I think it was directly in front of the theatre because we went out the entrace, lit up some ciggies and then hid them when we took pics in front of the marquee and had barely smoked at all.
(BTW, I've cut down my smoking to one or two (sticks, not packs!) a day! It's f*cking KILLING me. It's not a decline by choice, but because no one at work has time for breaks and no one else smokes. I actually start to sweat and tremble after a few hours. Is that normal?)
Oooh, look at that menu! I think you've sold me on Palisade, DD. How far is it from downtown Seattle?
Maybe 10 minute drive... not even.
It's a brewery... for the life of me I can't think of the name... it's a national chain.
And reservations are STRONGLY recommended.
I should be back that evening... maybe we can go out AFTER dinner with the parental units... you know, night on the town? I will be housesitting for my ex, so I'll be in Bell Town.
ROCK BOTTOM!!! That's the name of the brewpub we ate at.
