Do I have additional responsiblities?
I have hall duty two mornings a week. I have end of day duty once a week. I supervise morning announcements. This all takes place during "homeroom" time....so do I have those extra 10 minutes that the other teachers have....not really.
I never said it was fair or even.....I just think its a different kind of teaching. Now if you want to talk about unfair, let's talk about the elementary phys. ed teachers... (Just kidding of course, but hey...they get to wear sweatpants and sneakers to school every day!)
Oh...and just to add....at the middle school and high school level here, ALL specialists have a homeroom.

Like I said, it could just be a difference in school districts.
And yeah - rough life for the gym teachers! :) (Though I admit I wear sneakers most days myself because I wouldn't be standing any more if I had to wear "shoes" every day)
I do think it differs where you are teaching. The area, the district, heck, down to the school.
Also..I do agree with you that there was probably more to this story than just a student seeing a nude statue. I know that in my district it's extremely difficult to "get rid of" a teacher. One incident like this would not do it.

And, for the record, many "specialists" also have homeroom.
ETA: Damn, Wendy edited her post and now I'm just redundant.
