As I mentioned, she covered "Everytime We Say Goodbye" on the "Red, Hot and Blue" compilation album of Cole Porter songs, and it is lovely. But Medusa, Peace and Solo are all AWFUL.
"when she and Dave Stewart left that band to form the Eurythmics"
That's when I liked her for five minutes-after "Sweet Dreams...." it was all over for me.
Whenever I see her perform on tv, she has an air about her like she's the second coming.

i love eurythmics (especially the darker stuff) & i think dave stewart's contribution is underrated.
annie solo is a snooze.
at one of my coffeehouse jobs back in asheville, our cokehead boss was addicted to that covers album & would play it over & over & over...& over.
we all hated it. we made up obscene lyrics for all the songs.
& it became code...to let each other that the boss was locked in the backoffice doing lines, we would chirp that beginning bit from NO MORE I LOVE YOUS...
"dooba doo doo doo.....AHHHHAH!"
just recalling it makes me wanna scream.
J'adore The Eurythmics. Solo stuff was watered down but interesting....and then just watered down.
Love her...not the cover album so much, or the newest one. I just love her voice. I never got the impression she had a god complex at all...never read her bio, tho.
Sorry to bust in on the hate mongering.
Doodle, I may have used the wrong phrase when I said second coming. When I thought about it later, I should have said I hated her histrionics while singing.
The one time I saw her perform, she was sensational.
I'm also a fan. Though I haven't heard the covers disc or read the bio. She's always done the best "getting ready to go out" music. I also love watching her perform "Why"

she is very talented but she needs an editor/director/writer.
":. I also love watching her perform "Why""
Yeah, I think that if you're someone's fan, you do like watching them perform. It enhances the enjoyment you get from only hearing them.
If you're not a fan, watching them seems to make it worse.
(Like watching Barbara Walters, lol)

Haha
or Celine Dion
I like her too, but I have to agree that her covers album was a somnolent mess.
And since she just "came back" like 3 months ago isn't a little soon to be throwing in the towel?
She's probably just pissed that her album didn't sell very well.
"I know it's unkind to admit that it was the one rock star plane crash I was actually looking forward to"
Is there really anything else to say?

Have I said too much?
No...I just look at you and know that every word is true.
Don't cry for Annie, BWW.
I like a few songs of hers quite a bit.
Four, actually.
Here Comes the Rain...
Walking on Broken Glass
No More "I Love You's"
...and that song from "Bram Stoker's Dracula," which I love.

I'm pretty sure she was dropped by her label because her FANS say, "I like these four songs of hers" and "I hate the covers album" and "I don't own any of her music."
Although I could imagine Rath featherdusting around her bedroom to the video of "Would I Lie to You?"

I haven't liked any of her solo stuff since her first CD, Diva.
The rest......ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
