while polls in this specific case may look good to the dnc, i think that the longer term judgement of the american people when faced with life vs. death (at least in political rhetoric) will choose life. it's that intrinsic hopefulness that's still a part of the american spirit that wants to believe in silly things like miracles and the american dream.
either way, it's march. haven't even been through the traditional 100 days yet. it's a long way to '08, even to '06 and so very much can happpen along the way. so if you want to believe that this case is the death knell for the gop, have a victory dance. sing songs and wax poetic. but i don't think that in the long run the institutional memories of the people will remember anything more than life and death and who was fighting for life and who for death.
anyway, i thought that jeff/jim was going to take down the whole bush administration...wasn't he?

Way to go! Did you get your DeLay in '08 bumper sticker and complimentary pamphlet on the other great "causes" that will energize the base?

But all eyes are on the Florida circus.

But it's nice to see that, like so many Republicans, you're looking forward to the inevitable death of Terri Schiavo and boiling it down to a simple matter of "We tried to preserve life!" Democrats want death! DEATH!"
I think history is going to show that our legislature and president tried to intervene in a VERY personal matter and it backfired on them politically.

I agree....as important as some of the issues being brought up, the public will soon fixate on the next sensational story.
Just like that Cuban kid that got sent back to his father rather than staying in the US. See! Can't even remember his name, and really nobody cares about him anymore.
The American Public, for the most part, has a very short memory span, and loves nothing more than having somebody else make the decisions for them.

That they hired Karl Rove's personal piss whore was simply too embarrassing to cover.
Plus I guess it wasn't such big news because ALL Republican politicians seem to cheat on their wives.

I love reading Mr. Coulter and Mrs. O'Reilly so I wouldn't mind seeing the right-leaning political spin on a cartoon...

Iraq: 1,500 able bodied Americans dead, AMERICANS! (that is not counting the Iraqis.)
Florida: 1 brain dead woman who has been useless to anyone but her parents for 15 years.
That's LIFE?

We don't talk about those dead soldiers, nor do we attend a single military funeral (a first, or a Frist, for a US President) because we don't want to draw attention to it.
Poor old folks being cut off from Medicaid dying? It's ok, they're old. This woman is a political animal. Which is ok, since she's nothing else to them.
