I love theatre, yet there are some things that get me really annoyed i.e. Wicked, Rent, Phantom, Aida, ect. fans and the fact that some people are crazy about shows they have never seen.
What things get you annoyed?

Posted: 6/3/06 at 10:35pmHas anyone gone to the recent tour of RENT and experienced the stupid tweenies who talk, during and sing during, the show. And they think it is the best show ever created so after every "masterpiece" song they have to blow the god damn roof off with their squeals of stupid pleasure? That annoys me!

Posted: 6/3/06 at 11:48pmI have to agree I get annoyed when people sing and talk during shows. However it doesn't annoy me when people like certain shows, or get excited over them. I dunno maybe it's just me, but think everyone is kind of entitled to their own opinion when it comes to that. However what does annoy me is when people see one show (wicked for example) and decide that they are the next Idina and proceed to sing defying gravity for every choir concert they have the next year. Then they proceed to tell everyone that broadway is "totally their thing" because they've seen this one show and they act like they can tell you everything about theater. This has happened to me quite a few times recently can you tell!? lol.

Cell phones, people who talk/laugh really loudly during shows, teenyboppers screaming during Seasons of Love in Rent...
I could go on and on, unfortunately.

Posted: 6/4/06 at 1:37amWell, to be fair ChenoFan, I've only seen 3 shows in my 14 years of living, but I still consider myself a fan of shows that I haven't seen...I'm not getting defensive I'm just wondering why that would be annoying? Not everyone has the privelage (sp?..woah) of going to see lots of shows. Sadly. I'm crazy about The Color Purple but I've never seen it, just to name one example.

==I have never seen a broadway show and only 3 on tour and yet I am a GIGANTIC fan of a lot of musicals.
==I LOVE RENT and PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
So, I guess I annoy the crap out of you, huh?
On topic, I hate cell phones and talking in the theatre. My wife and I went to see JEKYLL AND HYDE on tour and the WHOLE SHOW this woman behind us kept asking questions like, "So, what are they doing?" "Why did he do that?" "Who is she?" God, I wanted to turn around and smack her. At intermission, we moved to different seats to escape this woman.

It should not annoy someone just becasue they like a show and have never seen it, just because some of us dont have the money to get tickets or dont live in NYC, does not mean we can not like or love a show.
I am a hugh fan of Jersey Boys and I have never seen it, but I know I would love the show if I saw it, I love frankie and his music.

People who open candies and crackle the wrappers.
Seat kickers.
People who look at their cell phones during shows to see the time, and don't realize that the bright light is really distracting.

I completely agree. If you missed the joke than you missed it. Smile and nod and move on!
