So did they let you sing first at the audition or did they ask to see the goods first?

That's an interesting question! Cuz for any Equity production, they can not ask for nudity in the audition process---so how do they know they are getting the biggest talent?

Look at Take Me Out... the vast majority of those guys were pretty well endowed... I'm advancing the theory that all actors (and male BWW.com posters/creators are hung like mules)

Auditions are fully clothed. Otherwise, they would have a mess of lawsuits to deal with. Most of the guys in our cast were well-endowed, but there were a couple who were average or downright teeny. It was quite obvious that some guys were cast for looks and others for theatrical talent. Chicago doesn't have the endless pool of gay actor/singer/gym-clones desperate to work on stage found in New York. My body is simply average, but they were looking for someone with strong vocal and comedic skills at the time. That, and someone who was a quick study. I got a rehearsal video of the choreography, one one-hour rehearsal with the choreographer, and one 30-minute rehearsal with the cast just before curtain of my first performance. I was too busy panicking to be concerned with my body.

hmmm....in that case I shall be holding non-equity auditions this week for a new San Diego mounting of Naked Boys Singing. Anyone who is interested may audition and nudity will be involved with the audition process... Polaroids will be taken of each actor and most auditions will be video taped for future reference. Now all I gotta go is persuade the production company to actually mount an open ended production in San Diego...

I had a nude scene a few years ago in a play I did in Chicago. I was actually much more jittery about it in theory than in practice. It was actually kind of fun prancing around in my nekkid glory in public (rather than just my dressing room).
