re: The 'I Still Love ER!' thread (anyone?)

Abby is fine. She is sad about the hysterectomy and worried about the baby, but she is healthy. (And damn wide awake for a woman that just had major surgery.) The baby, Joseph, is a preemie. He is in the incubator with many tubes. They are doing lots of tests. He is on 100% oxygen. Kerry told Luka that even though he wasn't as bad, her son made it out of the NICU just fine and his boy would, too. She stayed with the baby while Luka went back to Abby. He left Abby and went to the bathroom where he washed his hands, cried and then threw a trash can at the mirror.

He's not as scary as that creepy uber-preemie, is he? You know, the one that was about an inch long?

As I mentioned in another thread, I love "ER". I didn't start watching it until later in the run so I don't know the Clooney years. I still love it and I will be watching tonight on the West Coast.

I love ER!!! I have also seen every episode, most of them at least twice.

No, their baby isn't scary at all. In fact, he seemed quite big for a preemie. At least the first baby they showed. I just hope he makes it out of there healthy. Odds are so against it, but of course this is television.

Sam better not get in trouble . . . yeah, she could have ran but . . . he deserved what he got!

What a great episode. ER is one of those shows that I don't watch for 4 years, and then just start again. I think I am going to have to watch this season all the way through, especially with Sally Field coming back. I think that last time I saw the show was when she was on.

This show, even after all these years, is so much better than Grey's Anatomy. Perhaps they shouldnt be compared, but give me the real drama over the soap opera that takes itself too seriously.

Maura Tierney is so good.

Sorry guys, but the soap opera factor in ER is quite high, at least for me. Not that I MIND it, but it is. Abby is turning into the Marlena of ER.

For some inexplicable reason, I keep watching it, hoping that finally, this episode will have some light-hearted humor that doesn't leave you feeling like you've been dragged through the trenches. It's good, but it's not fun to watch. Every one of thc characters has a big old black cloud overhead. It's not even drama anymore, it's tragedy.

Find the light at the end of the tunnel. Sam and Alex are safe. Jerry is alive. Abby is alive. Luka is alive. The baby survived (although who knows what is future will bring). Yes, it was a very dramatic episode but they had to suck us all back in for another season. Could have been worse . . . at least no one died--well, no one we didn't want to see die!

Point taken, but the difference is I find myself feeling something and caring...unlike a soap or GA when I just slap my forhead and wonder "did they just say he has a bomb in him and Christina Ricci is keeping it from exploding with her finger?!" Just. Dumb. "Are they really expecting me to deal with a pregnant man plot?" Stupid. "Two people impaled together...(sigh)..."

Yeah... GA seems to be reaching way to early in it's career.

My favorite ER episode ever was the Xmas one, I think it was season 1, when Rosemary Clooney was singing in the background at the end, and they showed Benton going up the stairs with a cooler containing an organ for transplant, and the cooler had a bow on it.

And you may say that Abby is the Marlena of the ER, but Maura is NOT the Deidre Hall of Primetime.

See this?
re: The 'I Still Love ER!' thread (anyone?)
Maura acted her way out of it. Deidre is still in there.

I am rather protective of my Kerry. I know that Laura Innes is taking less screen time in order to be behind the camera, but I wish the character had more of a storyline. I loved the fact that she never even considering that she could be gay until she met Kim. But if you watch old episodes it TOTALLY seemed like she had a crush on Jeanne. Maybe the writers were considering it that far in advance.

She's a terrific actress. I wish they also early on went more into her travels and the boyfriend that showed up.

I also miss CCH Pounder in the ER.

I love that they also have the same actress playing the OBGYN that tried to get Mark fired for killing that mother during a delivery "gone wrong."

There she was last night...with straightened hair.

Oh yeah. She used to have a farm in Africa. lol

That is one thing that I love about that show. Even though the main characters have changed drastically over the years, the secondary characters always pop back in and out.

Still #1 at 10 pm!

"NBC's "ER," won the 10 p.m. hour with a 10.0/16. The premiere of "Shark" on CBS averaged 9.8/16. ABC's "Six Degrees" lost a big chunk of its lead-in to finish at 8.6/14."
