The 'applaud for your favorite dead person' competition has always been unseemly, if also slightly giggle-provoking. Sort of fits with Clooney's comment earlier in the evening about Cary Grant.
Aren't they chronological? Didn't they used to be calendar year, not as of 3 1/2 weeks before the show? I think it works better this way, since it would be odd to see Heath next year.

Posted: 2/25/08 at 5:48pmThe montage is also reserved only for people who were in the Academy, not necessarily everyone in show business who passed away. As Brad Renfro never received an Oscar nomination, it's very possible he was not a member. Ledger, while also young, became a member through his nomination for "Brokeback."
