The *OFFICIAL* "I hate clowns " thread...

Ok..since they have tormented me since my childhood, and I have been recently finding others who share my fear/loathing, I thought I would see who on here feels similarly.

As Grace Adler would say, "They think they're sooooooo funny."
As Carrie Bradshaw would say, "There is NOTHING scarier than a clown."

No matter where I go, they keep popping up. They're making balloons, they're painting faces, they're popping up in Namo's avitar, they're 'krumping' in music videos, they're getting in the faces of infants and scarring them for life and what do they get for it? Well, one of them got to be the weatherman on the TODAY show for years.

You have no idea how many parties I MISSED as a child because when it came down to it, my fear of clowns was more powerful than my feelings of freindship towards my fellow kindergarteners.

So go on...tell us your clown horror stories and we'll all support each other.

Oh. My. God. I HATE clowns. I freak out every time one comes within 20 feet of me. I dread parades, and avoid the circus like the plague. I think it started when my parents bought these two paintings of a boy clown and a girl clown. They thought they were cute, but I knew they were evil. Especially the girl clown. And if that wasn't bad enough, they hung them up on the wall facing my bed, so that they would stare at me at night when I was going to sleep, ensuring lots of nightmares. I found the pictures when I was 14 while cleaning out the garage, and while my mother was yelling at me not to, I set them on fire in a metal trash can. Hobo justice, I call it.

my ex was terrified of clowns........
I've never found them funny, but they don't bother me. I always views them as people who had bad taste.
I did go to HS with the first female clown to graduate from "clown college" for Ringling Brothers.......

Clowns and wax figures. A day at the circus followed by Madame Tussaud's would be torture. Pure torture!

I PROMISE it's a day we'll never have. And, a wax clown? Scariest ever...

We'll just do the pink (and orange) drinks!

So Addy, you're not going to go see Paris Hilton's tour de force performance in the sure to become a classic horror remake of HOUSE OF WAX?

That makes Paris sad. re: The *OFFICIAL* 'I hate clowns ' thread...

But it did get me thinking about a new screenplay that I could write about a diabolical elementary school art teacher who kills her students using paper mache.

I'm afraid of balloons - does that count?

Given that Pennywise already popped up on this thread, I gotta ask:

Is there anyone who hasn't read Stephen King's masterpiece, IT, and is NOT terrified of clowns?
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Pop, clowns don't scare me and I read the book and love the movie.

WE ALL FLOAT DOWN HERE!

STOP TALKING ABOUT 'IT!'
STOP IT...STOP IT NOW!

Addy...I'm not afraid of balloons on their own...but when I'm out in public and I see balloons...I get a little upset feeling in my tummy, thinking there might be a you-know-what nearby. *shudder*

I am also not scared of clowns but I don't like them. I have never found them funny.
And Slava is just one example of what I find so unfunny about them.

Age 4.

Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus.

A clown pops up right in front of me.

A SCREAMING Cookie who could not be consoled for the rest of the performance.

I have never net anyone under the age of 70 who liked clowns.

The traditional clowns are hideous and not really funny. The modern clowns like the ones in Cirque du Soleil are pretty amazing. They find some really talented people with inventive ideas.

Actually, Mr.Matt,
I agree with you.
I have seen Saltimbanco, Alegria and La Nouba by Cirque Du Soleil and have not felt scared at all. I'll now be throwing all my "Circus Charity Money" towards Cirque Du Soleil. I currently have $45,673 that I have NOT given to circuses in my 26 years on this earth.

When I was 4 my mother rented IT and had me watch it the day before we saw the Ringling Bros circus. I have never been the same...
