I was reading and watching at the same time, and I thought their passports had just fallen out of their backpacks.

re: The Amazing Race

doodle - As annoying as Flo and Zach were, the fact that they won was almost humorous in a way. And Zach seemed like a pretty decent guy other than the fact that he saddled himself with a ridiculously whiny bitch. Team Hippie to me, was one of the most ingratiating wins in the history of the show. Dandrew could top them both as far as being the least competent team to be lucky enough to not lose every elimination leg and somehow get in the magic cab to the finish line.

As soon as I saw Dallas leave that bag in the cab, my heart sunk. I know what it's like to make such a dumbass disastrous mistake moments after making it. It's sort of like accidentally clicking "reply all" instead of "reply" on a work email and not realizing it until after you clicked "send" and you know even if you recall the message, the wrong people already read it. I assume. Nevermind. Don't ask. Anyway, he wasn't focused and he paid a horrible price and he seems like the sort of guy who will punish himself eternally for that mistake. I really did feel bad for the guy.

The sad thing is, even if Toni and Dallas made the top 3, they would not have been able to travel without their passports and would have been forced to use valuable race time to correct their own mistakes. That's why Dandrew didn't go pick up their shoes from the theatre. After checking in, they cannot do any activity that is connected with the events of the race and if the producers correct the mistake for them, it gives them an unfair advantage over the other teams. Their only hope would have been to track down the taxi and the passports when they began the next leg. Losing that particular bag was a death sentence for Toni and Dallas, which was absolutely devastating.

Oh, and can Tina ever do one goddamn thing for someone without claiming they "owe" her?

Ugh...I know what you mean. The way she announces like she's expecting everyone to keep score and return the favor twofold. Tina, you chose to help your competition in a race for $1 million. The only one patting you on the back for that will be yourself. Or possibly the winners if they can stop laughing at you long enough to remember how you helped yourself lose. I'm still laughing about how she took credit for getting a bigger plane.

My heart sank too...the one genuinely likeable team is gone.

Rooting for Nick and Starr now simply because they've run the best race.

And I guess it says something about Nick that if they did win the million, he still went back to "Fantasticks."

Well, it's not like they get the money before the show airs.

I don't really see what it says about him except that he didn't breach his contract.

Oy. Me too! I was really rooting for Toni and Dallas. I find the brother/sister duo annoying and can't muster up any enthusiasm about them.

Point taken PRS...I forgot that they don't get the check until next MOnday on the "Early Show"

The more I think about it, if Dallas hadn't taken so long at the Stalin/Lenin roadblock, he might not have been so frazzled (hence leaving the backpack behind). I'm wondering how they ever got their passports back (if at all).

Knowing from the promos that one team lost their money and passports my heart sank as soon as I heard Toni tell Dallas to take her bag and passport. I guess having your teammate at your side does lessen that chance of bags being left behind in cabs. Though I'm a little surprised it hasn't happened before in past races. What I didn't like was Dallas lying by saying their money and passports were stolen. I think once coming into contact with people who spoke English, that would have been the opportunity to ask for help in contacting the cab company in hopes of locating their lost items. And they knew they needed to take a cab to the pony park. "Make your way by taxi" has always meant just that, and they had to have know a penalty of some sort would result.

Perhaps Toni was the real clue reader in that team. How else do you explain Dallas not seeing the spelling of the names and corresponding them with the correct statues. Once again, following the clue is fundamental.

Tina seems to have become more annoying these past few weeks. Ken can do no right.

I'm more than surprised that team Dandrew is in the final three. But I have every faith they'll be true to form and fall behind once the first task, other than "Make your way to the airport", is presented.

I'm pulling for Nick & Starr. Perhaps it's the fact they actually read and follow the clues, came prepared to race (packing gloves, etc.), or perhaps it's just something about her name I like.

Rest in peace, Iflitifloat.

Of the three remaining, I can only root for Nick and Starr.

The other two couples, no, just no. If Dandrew finds a way to win the whole thing, I might just swear off of Amazing Race for good.

They make Sarah Palin look competent.

I can't root for Dandrew either, but am worried about those promos, with "Cinderella story" and "biggest upset in Race history" being tossed around. Then there was Tina's comment in the cab- "we can't lose to them."

I really hope I'm wrong.

On the subject of Toni and Dallas...was it an entire backpack he left in the cab? It looked to me like it was only the fanny pack. Not that that excuses it, but the fanny pack is much smaller than a backpack, and as such is much more easy to forget about.

adam, my understanding was that it was the whole backpack? I'm not positive though.

I can't imagine the promos giving that much away? Don't they usually try to throw us off?

I thought the promos wouldn't give that much away either, and it very well could be a red-herring. However, last week's promo had the rather obvious shot of Dallas shouting, "We've got nothing!" after telling us one team lost their passports and money.

Does it seem that Tina is nice to everyone EXCEPT Ken? She's given help to other teams, been gracious to folks who have helped them along the way, but can't seem to be even civil to Ken.
