2007 is nearing its mid-way point. What are the best films thus far?

For me...

1) ZODIAC

2) BLACK SNAKE MOAN

3) GRINDHOUSE

4) HOT FUZZ

I'm sure BUG will be on this list sooner or later...

MOST FUN INCONSEQUENTIAL MOVIE: SMOKIN' ACES

MOVIE SAW IN 2007 BUT ACTUALLY CAME OUT IN 2006 THAT I WISH I COULD PUT ON THIS LIST: INLAND F*CKIN' EMPIRE!!!!

I've only seen 2 that deserve to be on a "best" list:

1. Zodiac
2. Breach

Away From Her
The Wind That Shakes the Barley

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Everyone seems to like Zodiac. I thought it was way too long and got boring. I lost interest about 3/4 of the way through.

WAITRESS is, by far, my most favorite movie of 2007 up until now...the writing was incredible, the acting was spot-on (keri russell needs to be back in the spotlight more often! after her baby is born, of course...), and even though adrienne shelley's (who wrote AND starred in the movie) story is so tragic, this movie is a wonderful addition to that story re: The Best Films Of 2007 So Far?

YEAR OF THE DOG ... but I had to see it twice to fully appreciate what Mike White was accomplishing.

This time last year, or by the end of June, I was crazy about FRIENDS WITH MONEY and HALF NELSON. I hope we have films of that caliber this summer. Year before we had JUNEBUG. I'm always optimistic that the small treasures will slip through.

i LOVED disturbia. it was just so good because it had horror, hint of gore-ish stuff, romance, comedy points. i just liked it a lot, not as a oscar worthy movie, but i still liked it. shia is awesome

I really liked Music and Lyrics. I thought it was an excellent movie. Not a classic, but an excellent movie.

I have several names, one is Julian2. I am also The Opps Girl. But cross me, and I become Bitch Dooku!

Not so sure about the BEST one. But I can tell you what the worst one is (and will still be after the year is over):

I guess I'm the only one who thought THE FRACTURE was one of the best films of the year. It wasn't brilliant or a classic, but it sure had two great performances at the center of it, and it kept me at the edge of my seat throughout the whole film. Kudos to Ryan Gosling and Anthony Hopkins.
I thought GRINDHOUSE succeeded in doing what it wanted, it was very entertaining and good. Not sure if it should be in any "best of" list though.

Did you even see it, yet?

I saw AWAY FROM HER this evening. Loved it. Truly moving.

So that would be:

1. Zodiac
2. Away from Her
3. Breach

Was that question for me...? Then yes. I was two hours early for the 8:00 PM showing so I could save 5 really good seats. Word.

If not, then nevermind. Carry on.
