Liked the film, now however that I have been told it's an Evangelical Born Again thing, I guess I learned that God doesn't like fat people, women with beards or guys with tattoos.
As far as Mr Mendes being a homophobic born again, I will punish him by watching the film and imagining him naked while I perform all kinds of sodomy on him! Excuse me while I get some tissues.

I think the message could be seen as Christian in nature, but in a positive way. I suppose the ring master could represent Jesus or God and the acceptance of all kinds, teaching them to be strong and use the gifts they were born with. Obviously, Will represented a sinner, spitting in the face of Jesus/God at first, then being accepted with open arms (no pun intended) regardless of past sin. Someone should write the creator of the film and thank him for pointing out that God loves and accepts everyone and that we're all heros to someone and shouldn't be ashamed. Then tell him that his film gave you the strength to come out.

And maybe someone should clue Mr. Verastegui in on this and tell him that as a homosexual man born in raised iand the United States I resent him coming to my country and campaigning to put forth a bill infringing on my civil rights.
