It's one of my favorites. Love Judy, love Robert Walker. Also have a strange thing I can't explain for Keenan Wynn in his drunk scene with the old hooker sitting at the bar.

Except for a few short years in my youth, when "Oz" took over, this has always been my favorite Judy Garland film. It was a wonderful surprise when I just turned on the television yesterday and it suddenly appeared. I realized that it had been a long time since I'd seen it.
She literally had me in tears during the scene at the table, after her wedding. It was a beautiful performance.
A click for life.

Okay, thatgirl--You inspired me with this thread to watch the movie for the first time yesterday.
I almost posted here (with guilt) that I had never seen it, and that I even own the DVD, because it was given to me... when instead, I decided to put it on. It became my Sunday afternoon movie yesterday, and it was a beaut!
I thought it was very romantic, and Garland and Walker were first-rate. My favorite scene was with the two of them and James and Lucile Gleason (real-life husband and wife) after they delivered the milk. It was so natural! It almost felt improvised, which is unusual for a film from that era. And the chemistry and warmth from the four of them... it made me feel like I was sitting at the breakfast table with them.
I also really loved the music in the movie, by George Bassman.
And I had no idea until I read this thread that the crazy lady at the counter was Angela Lansbury's mother! Wow! I also read on IMDb.com that the guy who gives Robert Walker the matches at the beginning of the film... was Arthur Freed.
I wish Judy had made more dramatic pictures back then. I understand why they kept her busy singing, of course. But to see her carry a film without one note of music coming out of her, shows just how strong of an actress and "screen presence" she was.
I can see why the movie did well. It's SO romantic. In a way it reminded me of the recent films Before Sunrise and Before Sunset.

Oh yes, Mamie! And the genius that was Vincente Minnelli--the entire scene was done with no dialogue!

"It's a story as gay as Spring, and as exciting as love itself!"
That might be my favorite tag-line ever.
