But they just brought in Elisabeh Hasselbeack to bring in the super-young 35+ crowd.

'I'm a comedian first. My comedy is informed by an ideological background, there's no question about that.'The embarrassment is that I am given credibility in this world because of the disappointment that the public has in what the news media tells them
I think hes talking about you guys....
Romantico, almost nothing is funnier to me than rightwingers' notion that liberals think entertainers are journalists. Yes, Jon Stewart's commentary is often enlightening, but we all know what it is.
I guess it makes sense, given that many of them think Bill O'Reilly is a newsman. But it's still funny.

Reg what I find even funnier is the way Right-wingers JUMP on even the most minor celebrity when he or she endorses a Republican! They line up to rip into liberals for every word Barbra Streisand says and then fall all over themselves quoting Kelly Clarkson or whatever grade-z celebrity they get to perform at a right-wing rally.
Ha, nice try Reggie, the fact is even in this very thread Stewart and Kimmel are reference by libs not rights.
even SNL is referenced as being true here by libs not rights,, but again good try in tryin to flip the story here #oopsdamnthescrollbar
Frankly, I find looking to celebs for political endorsements silly, whoever it is (and for whichever side).
Ahh, rightwingers trotting out their endorsing celebrities like trophies; that's how we get such priceless moments such as Clint Eastwood and his chair or Craig T. Nelson proudly declaring, "I've been on food stamps and welfare. Did anyone help me?"
Precisely, Reg. Unless it's a Kerry Washington or a Kal Penn, celebrities who have wealths of knowledge on the subjects at hand, most celebrity endorsements are ludicrous.
'Craig T. Nelson proudly declaring, "I've been on food stamps and welfare. Did anyone help me?"'
Is that a real quote? Did he actually say that????

"...most celebrity endorsements are ludicrous..."
I was thinking about that when I was reading Pat Cesarean's fawning InDepthInnerViEWWW with Meat Loaf the other day. All I could picture was the footage of him marching his lumpen self with those other pasty has-beens Big and Homophobe to join Mitt Romney on stage long after it was clear that the campaign was DOA. I mean, sad for EVERYBODY. How can Loaf even look at himself in the mirror??
As for the infotainment discussion, I have never heard ANYBODY of any stripe refer to The Daily Show, Colbert Report, or MSNBC as "the news". However, the Roger Ailes network? Well, we all know what their fearful old viewers think of that channel.
ETA: Craig T Nelson answered his own question with: "NO!" Nobody helped him when he was on welfare and food stamps.
I had to do a double check too Robbie...it states on his wikapedia page that he said it to that hack Glenn Beck.
Robbie, that was my reaction too! I'd never heard it. I thought it surely must have been a joke (like, maybe HE was on Kimmel or Stewart or SNL). But nope, it was on Glenn Beck. Who's funny in his own sad, sad way, but not actually a comedian.
I think an interesting point has been made in this thread. Whenever I see a headline or (especially) a Facebook status that says something outrageous, I always check out multiple sources to see if I can verify it--ESPECIALLY if it aligns with my viewpoint and I want to believe it's true.
In other words, when I hear something like the Nelson quote, I sooooo want to believe that a right-wing dolt said it. But I would NEVER believe it without looking for some reputable source.
Whereas our right-leaning brethren seem to take their Aunt Tilly's forwarded e-mail about death camps or what have you as gospel.
Which, again, is why I think it's funny when they say "Oh, you get your news from Jon Stewart." No, sweetheart, I get my entertainment (my ya-yas, if you will) from shows like that; not my information.

I remember a troll who used to throw out EVERYTHING everywhere as being liberally biased, while citing the NY Daily News as a legit source.
I never said I was watching Jimmy Kimmel for the news.
Talk about not comprehending things and then running with it.
Diva, I have a pretty good guess whom you're talking to.
I spoke with my mother yesterday. Things at work have become difficult to deal with. The only reason I have my job is for health insurance. My mother asked, 'So...how is this new Obamacare affection your insurance at your job?' I, of course, said, 'Not one bit. But when I quit here next year, I can now get affordable insurance, even with a pre-existing condition.' She seemed confused by this statement.

But being a lady is no longer a pre-existing condition, so you're all set.
I prefer to think of it as a pre-existing perk!
I'm planning my exit plan from work carefully. But the idea that I can get out of here and still go to the doctor when needed and not be in debt because of it? Oh...oh the happiness. Oh the joy!

Somebody said a troll said it's exactly like Stalin. So be careful!
Yes, Reg, that wasn't at you.

The Daily Show's coverage of the RNC has been great, but last night's episode was nothing short of amazing. Stewart and his team really held nothing back in their criticism of the Republican party, culminating with Stewart using Eastwood's misbegotten speech to sum up the party:
