Do they even go to college? Wouldn't that be considered "public school"? Someone would be teaching their kids other than them.

And I think she only had 3 of them C-section. She can't have any sensation left in that area. Not that her husband let her feel any to begin with. You know, her being a subservient woman and all.

Not that I don't wonder about how they finance everything, but I'm pretty sure they don't spend $10 a day on food per person. I would imagine they grow a fair amount of their own food, and shop in bulk. I flipped past their show some time ago and they were making their own laundry detergent to save money, so apparently hours of the girls' lives are sacrificed in the name of thrift.

I think they cut their own hair, shop at thrift stores, probably don't go out much, and have their own built-in labor force (along with their Quiverful friends and their massive broods) to help with any sort of "manly" things that need doing...

I seem to remember JimBob saying that they built their house. Having seen the show their house is, actually, pretty nice. Skills like that are quite bankable.

Now, I'll admit to not having ever heard of the Duggers until now. And all I know of them is from a 10 minute glance at their website.

Albeit bizarre to have that many children, I don't think it's fair to make a lot of suppositions about how much they are costing the state or how unhealthy they all must be...or intelligence deficient. These are wanted children who the family seems to be able to afford and care for. At least from the photos, it doesn't look to be a household full of mentally-challenged or physically handicapped children.

I don't understand the need to create 19 of one's own biological children when there are so many homeless and parentless children, but somehow, despite the heavy conservative christian flag-waving, this fails to offend me as much as someone like the octomom.

Yes, the built the house with the kids doing some of the labor. Now, I don't think teaching the kids how to use power tools if they are old enough as a bad thing, but some of those kids were clearly too young to be doing stuff like that. I forget which special I saw this one. It was either #15 or 16, but who's counting anymore?

And my guess with financial stuff, they probably are getting stuff from TLC for doing the show. I noticed the kids do dress a little more modern now. Versus when they didn't have the show, but just did specials every few years.
