Actually, perhaps Andrews isn't SO crazy. She probably brought it up just so everyone would say, "Oh no, please don't EVER remake it - if the best this generation can do is Cameron Diaz - Julie Andrews is a GODDESS!"

If this movie is ever re-made, I'll probably kill myself. I'm not over exaggerating either. I really don't think there will ever be a need to re-do it. I watch it all the time, and nothing about it seems old or dated. It's a beautifully crafted movie-musical.

86, you enjoyed the remake of House Of Wax, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised at you enjoying the remake of Open Your Eyes. Vanilla Sky is a godawful film, full of stilted dialogue and bad performances as well as hopeless direction.

Yes it does cool. Is that what Ms. Kael wanted to see? Perhaps she should have made her own film. People like Kael, and critics in general, bring absolutely nothing to the subject of art. Nothing. They're wannabes. Ms. Kael's review of TSOM was not a review of the film, but a review of the piece. It could have just as easily been a review of the stage play. If you have an issue with the source material, then what's the point of a critique?
