He is definitely a legend and people will still be talking about him 50 years from now. My fav movie of his is Rebel Without a Cause, superb acting by James and Natalie and it's also the first movie of his that I saw hehe also the 50th anniversary of his death is coming up

I was in the city this afternoon, and I ended up buying a James Dean ID card. I'm straight, but there are two men in this universe that I would jump the fence for: Paul Newman and Mr. Dean.
Has anyone seen East of Eden? It was his first starring role, and he was heartbreaking in it, especially in a climactic scene set at a birthday party...
Doesn't anyone else have something to say about this guy?
I think Mr. broadway86 just might be officially James Dean cool.
Really? What did I do?

and a lesson book on what not to do when acting - his technique is a blend of many techniques - he didn't rely on just one - also his disdain for theatre work was legendary - he appeared in only two Broadway shows and hated every minute of it (his respect for the "theat-uh" included peeing on stage, if need be- he scored a huge Broadway hit in 1954 in "the Immoralist" and played about 20 performance till Kazan swept him up and took him to Hollywood.. best Dean bio - James Dean by Val Holley - also goes into depth on how he used his bisexuality to get a leg up, so to speak , in the business..

I don't think that Dean was a bad actor at all. Quite the opposite. But if you do, keep in mind that he died right before his career really started. He had oly starred in three movies and, as I said before, he had so much potential that he never got to show. Had he not been taken so soon, who knows what he could have accomplished. And therein lies the mystery and legend of James Dean.

Which picture hosting services would people here recommend? I have an amazing picture of James Dean that needs to be on this thread, but I can't post it here directly due to partial* nudity.

Orangeskittles has gotten me curious. What is this picture you speak of?
I love James Dean... East of Eden probably being my favorite (although I still don't have it on DVD!... I only have Giant as of now.)
I have this giant poster of him that I was gonna put in my dorm but I didn't bring it (case of 'thought I packed it... nope')

Vin Diesel may very well be my favorite actor; but as I've never seen him in anything, I wouldn't know. I have, however, seen James Dean's films, and know that he over-acts, and doesn't know the meaning of the word subtlety. He isn't remembered for his wonderful performances; but because he died. And, because he died, people see his performances as something better than they are. I count his performance in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE, as among the worst the screen has ever seen. Had he only done those three films and lived, nobody would care about him.
