I didn't feel the need to start a whole new thread...
Or is it If I were your agent?
From her Tony-Winning turn as Sheila in the original cast of A Chorus Line, her acceptance of the thankless role of Marjorie Houseman in Dirty Dancing to her egregiously overlooked (by the Emmy committee) tour de force each week as Emily Gilmore on Gilmore Girls, Kelly Bishop is wonder to behold.
"Everything is beautiful with the Kelly
Every show gets better with her there
Yes, everything is beautiful with the Kelly, gee
Spread the love, Ms. Bishop, Kelly"

Kelly Bishop came to my town for a 'celebrity reading night' at a local middle school. I went to the stage door and had a chance to chat with her. She couldn't have been nicer =) She signed my 'ACL' cd booklet.

Kringas you should rent the Jill Clayburgh movie An Unmarried Woman. Ms. Bishop has a small role in it. She's very good.
edit: My bad. It's not out on DVD. Only VHS, if you can find it.

I wish she was my Grandma.
Love love love love LOVE her.
Let's not forget her amazing turn as Jill Clayburgh's best friend Elaine in An Unmarried Woman.
"He should get a permanent case of the clap and have his pecker fall off..."
Did anyone see her Vera Charles? I think she must have been grand.
Oh, I can imagine that to have been divine!

My two favorite Emilyisms:
Lorelai: Please do not tell me that you are sitting right in front of me.
Emily: No, it's a hologram. Life like, isn't it?
Emily: You have the word "Juicy" on your rear end.
Lorelai: Well, if I knew you were coming over, I would've changed.
Emily: Into what? A brassiere with the word "Tasty" on it?
*Though I have to admit, all this time I thought Lorelai was spelled "Lorelei." Please don't tell Kelly.

I just saw a young girl (teens) with the word juicy od her rear end. Where are her parents? sorry threadjack.

I keep waiting for an episode where Kelly gets to really kick up her heels. Emily deserves a fantasy muscial number!

Me too. She's done a few steps here and there but a nice fantasy number would be great. Or maybe she can enroll in dance class...nah. That's not Emily.

There so much she could do. Dare I hope that someday she'll have her own spin-off?
(Imagine wavy dream-sequence lines here)
Coming soon to the WB - Emily Gilmore was a dutiful wife and mother. (clips to show the opposite) She always put the needs of her family first. (more clips to show the opposite) But now, that's about to change. (cue jazzy Broadway-style music)
This fall, Emily Gilmore is putting her needs first. (cut to Emily: Dammit, Richard! I'm almost sixty years old and if I don't try now for my shot I never will!)
This fall (Shot of Emily in a leotard), Emily Gilmore is going to go for her dreams (Shot of Emily in a dance audition). Will she succeed (Dream Shot of Emily as Elphaba singing "Defying Gravity")? Will she fail (Shot of Emily with a sandwich board, handing out coupons)? What will she discover about herself, while she waits to be discovered?
Kelly Bishop in "Emily's Equity." The story of one grandmother with a whole lot of talent, a lot more money, and a little bit of heart.
Coming this fall to the WB.

The roles of Ethnic Friend Number One, Ethnic Friend Number Two are still available. The role of Gay Roommate will be played by Kringas.
There are no words that will adequately express how much I adore Kelly Bishop.

Kringas, I worship the board you post on! That had me rolling on the floor! We'll see how my views change this season...
KELLY BISHOP is excellent
i'm not sure i'd want Emily as a grandmother(though she seems to love rory)
but yes kelly bishop always makes me laugh, especially in tonight's episode(i don't remember the line, but it was something about star trek and the way she said it made me crack up)
kelly helps make the show(but the cast is to good to say she steals the show)

It was when she was talking about the speaker that's in the pool house. She feels like she's on Star Trek.

Sadly, that pool house has a better kitchen than any house I've lived in. :P
Kelly Bishop is just great on Gilmore Girls. She and Edward Herrmann have handled all the writing thrown their way beautifully- even when things get ridiculous, they're never, ever out of character.

I love Kelly Bishop. She was so wonderful in "An Unmarried Woman" - she had one truly heartbreaking scene which I always think about when people mention her name. (Btw, I can't believe that movie isn't out on DVD! Such a shame)
Also, who could forget: "I think she gets it from me".....
as I've said before, my favorite scene from any episode of Gilmore Girls is when Emily finds the letter written by her late mother-in-law begging Richard not to marry "that woman"...at one point they're trying to figure out what to do about hors deuvres at the viewing, and Emily says "Why not toss come cubed cheese and a few toothpicks into the coffin with her and let everyone have at it!"

Oh, and the working title of Emily's Equity was Grandma's Gams.
Love. her.
Every time I watch Gilmore Girls, I can't help but think, "This woman is on my recording of A Chorus Line, singing At the Ballet."

New episode of Gilmore tonight.
