re: The Kelly Bishop Love Thread

Oh my God, FINALLY! It's been a freakin month and a half. It's about time.

She was my favorite character in the Broadway Chorus Line....I loved her bitchy banter! When I met her a few years ago at the annual flea market and auction....she hadn't changed a bit! She seemed embarrassed that she meant so much to me so many years after ACL. She posed with me for a pic and signed a nice autograph. Sorry everyone....I'VE NEVER EVEN SEEN THE GILMORE GIRLS...but do recall her in Dirty Dancin (with Jerry Orbach?)

MTVMANN, it may be. That or the Tony Awards.

Kelly's awesome. It's criminal she hasn't gotten an Emmy nod yet for Gilmore Girls.

She was the original Kitty in Six Degrees of Separation and got the great character defining line:

(when told that a homeless person froze to death in Central Park)

Kitty: Was it that cold?

Screwed yet again, Emmy-wise. You're always a winner to me, Kelly.

Eh. It's the WB. Not surprised at all. No matter how good she (or Lauren Graham Kelly Bishop birthday card campaign) is, they will always be forgotten. It's almost like they get more press for not being nominated than they would for getting one.

ACL

Love her. Love.

No question Gilmore Girls is at its best when she and Lauren are on screen together.

The Emmys suck.

Edited because I can't believe I typed "it's." I hate that.

ACL

Does anyone else suppose she'll be at the opening night of A Chorus Line in New York?
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

Another vote for Kelly in An Unmarried Woman. I believe it was the first demonstration, post-ACL, that she was more talented than just playing Sheila.

Best line: After they put her on powerful mood stabilizers--years before Prozac: "The highs are not as high anymore and the lows are not as low. I'm happy about the lows, but...GOD! I miss those highs."

Wouldn't Kelly (née Carole) Bishop be an absolutely dynamite Gunilla Garson Goldberg in The First Wives Club?

OMG yes!! She has the acerbic wit, that's for sure....

I've recently been absolutely addicted to her, watching her scenes on GG, her movies, listening to "At The Ballet" nonstop....the woman is incredible! My favorite performance by her is also "An Unmarried Woman", which was always one of my favorite movies, and that's where I first saw her - she is heartbreaking in her 'breakdown' scene in the bedroom with all the girls. Simply magnificent.

What a funny picture. She was good in that episode. Indeed, she's good in every episode she's in.

I was thinking last night that if this really is Gilmore's last season, Kelly's people need to figure out what she should next. While I'd love to see her in her own series, the thought of her returning to Broadway is even more delightful. I really think she'd make a fantastic Gunilla. She's pretty much the same age Maggie Smith was when she played the role in the movie.

And another birthday card campaign

I saw her as Vera Charles opposite Christine Ebersole's Mame. She was amazing, stealing every scene like she does on Gilmore Girls.
