I could give a rats ass but for those who do his holiness has made his announcement. Now we can all carry on with our mundane lives

Except those of us who live in Greenwich, CT, which has been full of camera crews, rabid fans and traffic all day. Can someone explain why, of all places on earth, the "King" chose this location? I don't give a rat's a** about The Decision either but I am not too pleased about paying for all the police overtime to direct traffic and the unavailability of massive sections of public parking. Please tell me that there is at least a nice big check being given to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America for the honor.

Wow...this was the lamest announcement ever. Especially since early today everyone was saying that he was planning a big party in Miami.

And LeBron just said that all proceeds from tonight's announcement (I'm sure sponsors paid A LOT for their commercials to air) will go to the Boys and Girls Club.

Thank you James885. Diversions are nice but they acted like this was going to affect all of our lives! Give me some of that 65 million he will get (or whatever the amount is) and I will get excited.

And now Cleveland doesn't care either!

I do understand that Cleveland cared a lot - in fact, to the extent I was interested in this at all, I was kind of hoping that he would show loyalty to his home state and to an area of the country that is desperate for something to celebrate. I guess the point of my cynical reaction is now Cleveland won't care any more - as he has decided to head to Miami. He is entitled to his choice, of course, but lots of first rate free agents in the past stuck with their original teams, even when other offers might have been enticing.

I now dislike LeBron James because I know he's going to make me root very hard for the horrible Celtics/Lakers if it's comes down to them during Playoffs/Final. That's how much I hate LeBron now. I'm nowhere near a Cavs fan, but his manufactured grandiosity is out of control. Plus he chose the easy way out. I wonder what he'll say then, who he will blame, if/when he loses. Wade, for one, is very injury prone. We'll see.

Technically, that's not even true, but it sounds good.

Personally, I think it would have been nice if he stayed in Cleveland (and I think monetarily, he would have gained the most by doing so), but it's his right to go where he wants to play after seven years. I think Miami was probably the smartest choice. On any other team, he would be blamed for each and every loss or perceived failure; the expectation of him coming to save a team would have been impossible; and it doesn't take long for the crowd to get ugly. On the Heat, blame will get split three ways.

While definitely over the top I LOVE that letter. I find His Holiness to be a narcissistic ****and I'm glad Gilbert called him out on it.

I guess I must be living under a rock because I had no idea this was happening until that Lend me a Tenor video thing. I actually thought that he was a retired basketball player.

Gilbert was part of the problem - but I think he was hamstrung by the short deal LeBron signed - it was hard to woo free agents when LeBron was not inked for a long period of time. (He did a 3 year deal, and one year in, there was already talk of whether he was staying or going when his contract ended).

LeBron wanted to win now, and with no top FA going to Cle, the only way to get help was through trades. There was no time to build through the draft, and Gilbert was in a bind - trying to win now, but not having the long-term commitment from LeBron to woo other high profile FAs.

Gilbert's true failing was to coddle and enable LeEgo and create the atmosphere where LeBron ran that franchise. I don't think Riley will put up with that crap. I honestly wonder how LeBron will handle being on Wade's team. It should be interesting.
